We’re a small and growing team working closely across product, platform, and smart store systems, from design through production.

How you can help
We're looking for a Software Engineering Co-op to help design, build, and improve the applications and services that power the Micromart product experience.
You'll work across our NodeJS, React and TypeScript stack, contribute to improving platform experience for our operators.
You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers on projects spanning customer-facing applications, backend services, and internal tools.
At Micromart, you will
Design, build, test, and maintain software used in real production environments.Contribute to backend services, APIs, customer-facing applications, internal tools, and operational systems.Work on projects involving payments, fraud prevention, device management, real-time services, and smart store integrations.Build interfaces and workflows that balance flexibility, simplicity, and real-world operational needs.Take ownership of well-scoped projects from implementation and testing through deployment and monitoring, with support from experienced engineers.Investigate production issues, review logs and metrics, and help improve the reliability of our systems.Collaborate closely with engineers, product stakeholders, and our smart store teams.Make thoughtful engineering tradeoffs that prioritize clarity, quality, and maintainability.

How We Work
We are a small, collaborative engineering team where co-op students contribute to real products used by operators every day.
You will work on clearly scoped projects, receive guidance through design discussions and code reviews, and gradually take on greater ownership as you become familiar with our systems.Our engineering workflow is AI-augmented.
We use tools such as Cursor and Devin to explore code, scaffold implementations and tests, investigate issues, and accelerate development.
We expect engineers to use these tools thoughtfully while maintaining strong engineering judgment, carefully reviewing generated work, and taking responsibility for the quality of what they ship.
What you bring to the team
Pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional programming concepts.Experience building software through coursework, personal projects, internships, or previous employment.Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript and web technologies such as HTML, JSON, HTTP, and REST APIs.Experience with at least one backend or frontend framework.Basic familiarity with relational databases and SQL.Experience using version control, such as Git.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and work collaboratively with feedback.
Nice to have
Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Express, React, or AngularJS.Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, or other relational and non-relational databases.Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD, or production monitoring.Exposure to cloud platforms, Linux, or containerized applications.Experience with Android, hardware integrations, IoT, or edge devices.Interest in payments, fraud prevention, real-time systems, or machine learning.Previous startup, internship, hackathon, or substantial project experience.
