Senior Java J2EE Developer

Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Senior Java/J2EE Developer to support the ongoing development, enhancement, maintenance, and improvement of a large-scale enterprise application for the client. The selected developer will work within an Agile/Scrum environment supporting application enhancements, defect remediation, performance improvements, refactoring, user-interface improvements, data/reporting requirements, and ongoing production operations. This position requires extensive hands-on Java/J2EE and IBM DB2 UDB experience along with recent state government development experience. Required Qualifications10+ years of J2EE development experience10+ years of Java development experience10+ years of IBM DB2 UDB experience10+ years of Eclipse experiencePrior state government experience within the last five yearsStrong enterprise application development, maintenance, enhancement, debugging, and production-support experienceExperience analyzing and remediating complex application defectsExperience with application refactoring and performance optimizationExperience modifying database components, interfaces, batch processes, application modules, and UI componentsExperience working with Azure DevOps / ADOS for backlog, defect, enhancement, and development trackingStrong Agile/Scrum experience, including daily standups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and demonstrationsStrong technical documentation experience, including technical specifications, system dependencies, solution options, and design documentationAbility to work directly with business product owners, technical architects, technical leads, developers, and other stakeholdersAbility to provide knowledge transfer and transition completed enhancements to existing development/support teams1–3 years of direct eXPRS application development experiencePrevious development experience supporting large-scale Medicaid, health and human services, developmental disability, benefits, or other government case-management systemsExperience maintaining large, established enterprise Java applicationsExperience developing incremental functional prototypes and incorporating business feedbackStrong SQL, data processing, reporting, interface, and batch-processing experience Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, enhance, maintain, and support the client's enterprise application.Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate application defects and production issues.Complete operational, defect, enhancement, maintenance, performance, UI, refactoring, data, and reporting backlog requests.Develop and deliver Java/J2EE software changes and associated technical documentation.Analyze functional requirements and translate them into appropriate technical designs.Identify impacted applications, system dependencies, capability gaps, and alternative solution approaches.Develop technical specifications covering database changes, interfaces, batch programs, application modules, and use cases.Work closely with business product owners and technical architects to ensure requirements and technical standards are satisfied.Participate in daily Scrum meetings and approximately two-week development sprints.Develop and demonstrate incremental prototypes and incorporate stakeholder feedback.Track defects, requirements, enhancements, and development work through Azure DevOps.Provide regular sprint status reporting and transparency into deliverables, risks, progress, and timelines.Maintain complete technical and system documentation.Perform knowledge transfer to existing team members for continued application support.
