Backed by world-class investors. About the Role We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team at a critical moment in our growth. This is a senior technical leadership role with broad influence over architecture, engineering culture, and how we build, working closely with the CTO and cross-functional leadership to shape the direction of the product and the team. Responsibilities Set the technical direction for core systems, owning architectural decisions that span multiple teams and product areasDrive alignment on engineering standards, patterns, and best practices across the organizationLead complex, ambiguous projects from problem definition through delivery, often before the path is clearPartner with product and business stakeholders to translate long-term goals into a coherent technical strategyIdentify leverage points in the stack and org where investment will compound: tooling, infrastructure, process, and cultureMentor and raise the bar for engineers across the team through code review, design feedback, and direct collaborationRepresent engineering in cross-functional planning, bringing a systems-level perspective to product and operational decisions Skills and Qualifications 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of technical leadership at scaleDemonstrated ability to own and drive org-wide technical initiatives, not just individual projectsDeep backend expertise with strong familiarity in Node.js, TypeScript, and modern cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred)Experience in fintech or similarly regulated, complex-domain environments strongly preferredComfortable operating at multiple altitudes, able to write production code and influence system design in the same dayStrong written and verbal communication; able to make technical tradeoffs legible to non-technical stakeholders and drive consensus among engineersBA/BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experiencePreferred candidates based in New York or San FranciscoOn-site 3 days a week in our office Our Values These aren't words on a wall.
