Backend Engineer - Python / Rust / Go / AWSJob SummaryWe are seeking a strong Backend Engineer to join our engineering team and build scalable, high-performance backend systems on AWS. The ideal candidate is a hands-on software engineer with deep backend development experience, strong computer science and networking fundamentals, and experience working with Python and/or a statically typed language such as Rust or Go. We are looking for someone who can go beyond simply using frameworks and tools — someone who understands how systems work under the hood, can make sound technical decisions, and is comfortable solving complex backend and distributed-systems problems. The ideal candidate will have strong cloud experience, excellent programming fundamentals, and a track record of building and operating production systems at scale. ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs running on AWSDevelop production-grade software using Python, Rust, Go, or similar languagesBuild reliable, highly available, and fault-tolerant distributed systemsDesign and implement RESTful APIs and service-to-service integrationsWork across application, infrastructure, and cloud layers to solve complex technical problemsDiagnose and troubleshoot performance, networking, reliability, and production issuesMake thoughtful architectural and technology decisions based on system requirementsDevelop automated tests and maintain high standards for code quality and reliabilityContribute to CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and deployment processesCollaborate closely with other engineers, product teams, and technical stakeholdersParticipate in code reviews, system design discussions, and technical architecture decisionsContinuously improve system scalability, performance, security, and operational reliabilityRequired Qualifications4+ years of professional backend software engineering experienceStrong hands-on experience developing production backend systemsStrong programming experience with Python and/or Go/RustExperience with at least one statically typed programming language such as Go, Rust, Java, C++, C#, or similarStrong understanding of fundamental computer science and software engineering conceptsStrong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, APIs, and related conceptsExperience designing and building APIs and distributed backend servicesHands-on experience deploying and operating applications in AWSStrong understanding of databases, data modeling, and backend performanceExperience debugging complex production issues and working through problems independentlyStrong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain technical decisions and tradeoffsCloud & InfrastructureStrong hands-on AWS experienceExperience with services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, and CloudWatchExperience with Docker and KubernetesFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code, preferably TerraformExperience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deploymentsUnderstanding of monitoring, logging, observability, and production operationsPreferred QualificationsExperience with both Python and a statically typed language, particularly Go or RustExperience building high-scale, low-latency, or high-throughput systemsExperience with distributed systems and microservicesExperience with event-driven architectures and messaging systemsStrong understanding of concurrency, parallelism, and asynchronous programmingExperience working with Linux and cloud-native environmentsExperience in fintech, financial services, payments, trading, or another technically demanding environmentExperience working with or evaluating modern AI/ML developer tools and APIsDemonstrated technical curiosity and ability to quickly learn new technologiesWhat We're Looking ForThe strongest candidates will be true backend engineers, not simply developers who have worked with a particular set of tools.
