Highlights

Opportunity to own data solutions, design pipelines, and shape a growing data domain within an innovative technology environment.

Description

I need a Senior Data Engineer who wants to own something. Not “own” it in the job-ad sense, where you attend three extra meetings and still need six people to approve everything. Actually own it. Data has grown up inside the Operations team, but it’s now becoming a proper domain of its own. There are three people in the team today, plenty already happening, and quite a few parts of the business pulling them in different directions. They need someone senior enough to bring some order to that. The domain itself is EV charging, where the data gets complicated fairly quickly. Every charging session connects a driver, vehicle, charge point, operator, roaming partner, tariff and payment. Add smart charging and the demands of the energy grid, and there’s a lot happening behind something that looks as simple as plugging in a car. You’ll still be hands-on: building ETL/ELT pipelines, designing data models, bringing together large datasets from different internal and external sources, and helping with everything from invoicing and fraud detection to operational reporting. Azure environment. Power BI. Some simple .NET API work would be useful, but it isn’t the main event. The harder bit is deciding what actually matters. Product, Operations, Engineering, Finance and Commercial will all want something. You’ll need to understand the problem, make a sensible trade-off and get something useful into people’s hands without disappearing for six months to design the perfect data platform. That’s probably the biggest thing here: they don’t want an overengineer. They want somebody practical. Someone who can create direction, bring the team with them and say, “This is good enough, this solves the problem, let’s build it.” This would suit a strong Senior Data Engineer who’s ready for more ownership now and wants to grow into leadership as the team expands. The business itself is building software around EV charging and the energy grid. Based in Arnhem, hybrid working. €80,000 – €85,000 pension, €2,000 training budget, and some other sec's If you like building useful data products, making decisions and helping shape a domain before everything has already been decided for you, give me a shout.
