Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer Location: Lowell, MA or Detroit, MI Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract Job Summary We are seeking a Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and support scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure. This role will focus heavily on AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD, while helping drive GitOps, cloud networking, system reliability, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing production cloud environments, Kubernetes platforms, Infrastructure-as-Code, and DevOps automation, along with advanced Linux and cloud networking knowledge. Key Responsibilities Design and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform, including Terraform modules, remote state management, and policy-as-code.Implement GitOps practices using tools such as Argo CD or Flux for declarative infrastructure management, version control, and drift detection.Manage Kubernetes-as-a-Service (KaaS) platforms, including multi-cluster lifecycle management, upgrades, and advanced autoscaling.Troubleshoot and optimize complex cloud networking, including CNI configurations, ingress controllers, load balancing, and traffic flows.Build, maintain, and support CI/CD pipelines for reliable and efficient software deployments.Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration-as-code across development, test, and production environments.Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize infrastructure for performance, availability, reliability, and cost efficiency.Integrate and manage third-party DevOps tools, plugins, and internal automation scripts.Create and maintain technical documentation, including runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to incident response and continuous reliability improvements.Collaborate with engineering, application, and business teams to ensure infrastructure meets technical and operational requirements.Mentor engineers and contribute to DevOps and infrastructure initiatives as needed.Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.7+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or related roles.5+ years of hands-on cloud experience, with strong emphasis on AWS. GCP or Azure experience is a plus.Advanced Linux expertise, including systemd, cgroups, namespaces, OS tuning, and production hardening.Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized workloads, particularly EKS and Docker.Deep understanding of Kubernetes and cloud networking, including CNI plugins, service mesh, ingress, and advanced networking patterns.Strong expertise in Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.Experience with Git, Jenkins, and artifact repositories.Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, VPN, and LDAP.Experience with monitoring and logging platforms such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or equivalent.Strong knowledge of AWS VPCs, security groups, IAM policies, and cloud security.Experience working in Agile environments and with tools such as Jira and Confluence.Nice-to-Have Skills Experience with Helm and Kubernetes Helm charts.Experience working in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.Familiarity with secrets-management solutions such as HashiCorp Vault or AWS Secrets Manager.Experience mentoring engineers or leading DevOps/Platform Engineering initiatives.Experience with Argo CD or Flux and GitOps-based infrastructure management.Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on Senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer who can take ownership of production infrastructure, troubleshoot complex Kubernetes and networking issues, automate repetitive processes, and improve the reliability and scalability of cloud environments.
