Job Purpose
The Senior Cloud Engineer – GCP is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing secure, scalable, highly available, and resilient cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
The role requires strong hands-on expertise in GCP infrastructure, Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Terraform, cloud networking, security, and Windows/Linux system administration.
The successful candidate will take ownership of cloud environments, proactively resolve complex infrastructure and production issues, and contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of enterprise cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, provision, configure, and manage scalable and highly available infrastructure on GCP.Administer Google Compute Engine (GCE) and related GCP services, including virtual machines, machine images, disks, snapshots, load balancing, and compute resources.Design and implement cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.Develop, maintain, and optimize Terraform configurations and reusable modules.Deploy, configure, operate, scale, upgrade, and troubleshoot Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) clusters.Manage Kubernetes workloads, deployments, services, networking, storage, scaling, and cluster configurations.Monitor GKE clusters and cloud environments to ensure availability, performance, capacity, and reliability.Administer and troubleshoot Linux and Windows Server environments supporting cloud workloads.Design and manage GCP networking components, including VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, routing, DNS, VPNs, and load balancing.Implement and manage Google Cloud IAM, service accounts, roles, permissions, and access controls.Apply cloud security best practices across infrastructure, workloads, identities, and networks.Configure and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions.Design and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions for critical cloud workloads.Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, Kubernetes, operating system, and production issues.Participate in incident management and provide timely resolution of critical infrastructure incidents.Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.Support cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and platform optimization initiatives.Conduct capacity planning and optimize cloud resources for performance, availability, and cost efficiency.Ensure cloud infrastructure complies with organizational security, governance, and operational standards.Maintain accurate technical documentation, architecture diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.Collaborate with DevOps, Software Engineering, Security, Data, AI, and other technical teams to deliver reliable cloud solutions.Stay current with GCP services, cloud technologies, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Strong knowledge of Compute Engine and related GCP infrastructure services.Proven experience designing, provisioning, and automating cloud infrastructure using Terraform.Hands-on production experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).Strong Windows Server and Linux administration skills.Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, security, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery.Solid understanding of cloud architecture, high availability, scalability, resilience, and operational best practices.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, or a related field.Strong experience managing GCP infrastructure in enterprise or production environments.Proven experience designing and managing production-grade cloud environments.Hands-on experience with GKE and Kubernetes in production.Demonstrated experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.Experience supporting business-critical applications and resolving complex production infrastructure incidents.Experience working with both Linux and Windows Server environments.
