We are supporting a specialist technology organization in the Defense space, looking to add Systems Engineers to its teams in Fairfax, VA OR Denver, CO. This isn't a traditional Systems Engineering position. You’ll work closely with software engineers, security teams and customers, helping modernise legacy systems, solve integration challenges and support the transition of applications into modern, cloud-native environments. You’ll have the opportunity to remain hands-on technically while taking greater ownership of technical roadmaps, architecture and delivery. What you'll be doing Work across software, systems, security and customer teams to solve technical and integration challengesSupport the modernisation and migration of legacy applications into containerised environmentsUnderstand software and system architectures and contribute technically where requiredHelp develop roadmaps and remove technical blockers across programmesSupport systems integration, testing and implementationWork with technologies and practices including Kubernetes, Docker and DevSecOpsUse Jira and Confluence to coordinate and document technical workContribute to technical leadership as your experience develops What we're looking for Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility or higher5+ years of relevant Systems Engineering experienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related disciplineStrong understanding of software development and software/system architectureDemonstrated programming or scripting experienceKnowledge of cloud technologies and modern application environmentsExperience working across engineering teams, customers and other technical stakeholdersStrong communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in complex technical environments Desirable Integration & Test (I&T) experiencePrevious IPT Lead or technical team leadership experienceKubernetes, Docker, Helm or other container technologiesDevSecOps / CI/CD experiencePython, Bash or similar scripting/programming languagesJira and ConfluencePrevious Intelligence Community or NRO experienceExperience modernising legacy applications for cloud or containerised environments This could be a particularly strong fit for a mid-level Systems Engineer, Software Systems Engineer, Integration Engineer or IPT/Technical Lead.
