About The Company They are a pioneering UK technology company delivering high-performance physical layer solutions for 5G and next‑generation wireless networks, with a particular focus on Non‑Terrestrial Networks (NTN) such as satellite communications. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join a growing engineering team developing next-generation wireless communications technology. This role will focus on the development, optimisation and integration of software infrastructure supporting high-performance embedded and real-time systems. Working closely with software, hardware and systems teams, you will contribute to the delivery of advanced communications products while helping to drive performance, reliability and scalability across the software platform. Key Responsibilities Develop software platforms used to run and test communications algorithmsOptimise software performance using multi-threading, SIMD and hardware acceleration techniquesIntegrate software with ARM-based embedded platforms and hardware systemsSupport and improve automated testing and CI pipelinesParticipate in integration, interoperability and system testing activitiesWork collaboratively with software, hardware and architecture teams to deliver robust solutionsContribute to technical reviews and customer-facing engineering discussions Essential Requirements Strong C or C++ programming experienceExperience working with Linux and embedded software environmentsKnowledge of Python, Bash, Groovy or similar scripting languagesUnderstanding of real-time systems and performance-critical softwareExperience with Git, GitHub and modern software development workflows Desirable Requirements Experience within telecommunications or wireless communications environmentsKnowledge of 5G technologies and associated specificationsExperience with networking technologies such as Wi-Fi or BluetoothExperience with FPGA, DSP or hardware acceleration technologiesFamiliarity with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx VivadoExposure to O-RAN architectures and fronthaul technologiesTest and validation experience, ideally involving RF equipment and signal analysis Interview Process Stage 1: 30-minute screening interview covering experience, motivations and technical background. Stage 2: Approximately 90-minute onsite technical interview focused on problem-solving, software engineering fundamentals, communications knowledge and technical decision-making, followed by a site tour.
