Description

Design EngineerLondon | Hybrid, with at least 3 days per week in our Waterloo office Right to work in the UK required — we’re not able to sponsor visas for this role The opportunityWe're hiring a Design Engineer to shape our applications — from how features look and feel to the Flutter code that ships them. We build cognitive stimulation experiences and clinically backed tools for older adults and people living with dementia and other cognitive challenges. Getting the interface right isn't just polish — it's often the difference between someone completing an exercise with confidence or giving up. We don't have a dedicated design function today, so this role has real influence over how the product looks, feels, and works. This is a hybrid role, roughly 40% design and 60% engineering. You'll split your time between designing in Figma (or with modern AI-assisted tools) and building in Flutter. About Punto HealthPunto Health is an award-winning digital health startup on a mission to transform cognitive and senior care. Founded by engineers Anna Muñoz Farré and Jack Eckersley, we are building an AI-powered platform that helps detect cognitive change earlier, personalise care and provide continuous support to patients, families and healthcare professionals. Our products include: PuntoTest, a speech-based digital biomarker for the early detection and monitoring of cognitive change.PuntoCare, an AI-powered platform that supports patients, carers and clinicians through personalised guidance, cognitive health activities and continuous insights. Our products are co-designed with clinicians, patients and families. We work closely with leading healthcare and research organisations across Spain and the UK, including NHS services and the Alzheimer’s Society. Following our recent seed round, we are expanding our team and scaling our technology across the UK and Spain. What you'll doOwn features end to end in our Flutter apps — from design through implementation and release.Evolve our mobile design system — the components other engineers reach for and the accessibility standards that govern them — with particular care for users who may have limited dexterity, low vision, or cognitive load constraints.Partner closely with product and clinical colleagues in London and Barcelona, shaping features from concept through implementation rather than working strictly to a finished spec.Contribute to new cognitive stimulation games and clinically informed experiences.Take part in code review and technical decision-making within a small engineering team. What you bringA portfolio — a personal site, GitHub, or screen captures of shipped work you're proud of. We care that we can see your craft, not the format. At least 2 years of professional experience building and shipping Flutter applications.A track record of writing clean, well-tested code in a production codebase. The ability to contribute to design as well as implementation — shaping how features look and feel, not just building to spec.A keenness to stay up to date with and integrate new AI tooling — Cursor, Copilot, Claude, Figma AI features, or similar — into your design and engineering workflow.Hands-on experience with Figma or other design tools, including wireframes, prototypes, or contributions to a design system.Experience with Firebase, Python, or releasing applications through the App Store and Google Play.Fluent written and spoken English; we're distributed across London and Barcelona and live in docs and async threads. Why join usBuild products that have a meaningful, measurable impact on people living with dementia and other cognitive challenges.Work on clinically backed technology already used by patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.Join a small, fast-moving team across London and Barcelona, working closely with engineers, product leaders, clinicians and researchers. Interview processWe want the process to be straightforward and give you a good sense of the team and the work. Intro call — a short conversation to learn more about you, your experience and what you're looking for.Design & engineering interview — a deeper discussion with the team about your previous work, product thinking, Flutter experience and approach to design.Practical exercise — a small, role-relevant task combining product/design thinking and implementation, followed by a discussion of your approach.Final conversation — meet more of the team, ask any remaining questions and make sure there’s a strong fit on both sides.
