The Role Lead and develop the Data Engineering function, defining best practices, standards, and delivery processes.Manage, mentor, and support a team of Data Engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.Design and build scalable ETL and ELT pipelines across operational, analytical, and AI-driven workloads.Take ownership of complex data engineering projects, remaining hands-on with critical development work.Define and enhance data models that support analytics, machine learning, and customer insight initiatives.Drive CI/CD adoption, deployment governance, and engineering automation.Collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and wider technology teams to deliver high-quality solutions.Introduce and optimise AI-powered engineering workflows to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.Implement monitoring, governance, and data quality frameworks to ensure reliable delivery. Your Skills & Experience Strong commercial experience in Data Engineering within cloud-based environments.Experience leading, mentoring, and developing Data Engineering teams.Advanced SQL and Python expertise for data transformation, orchestration, and pipeline development.Strong understanding of data modelling, including dimensional and analytical data structures.Experience designing and maintaining scalable data architectures.Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.Experience with Git-based development and CI/CD practices.Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across engineering, product, and data functions.Strong communication skills and a focus on engineering quality, governance, and best practice.
