Description
Director / GM, Data Products & Monetization
Build External Data Products.
Create Recurring Revenue.
Shape the Future of Critical Infrastructure.
Reports To: VP, Transformation
PSS Cross Country is looking for a leader to build something entirely new.
We already use data, analytics, and AI internally to improve pricing, operations, and decision-making.
The next opportunity is external, turning our unique position in the physical flow of infrastructure projects into customer-facing products that improve project health, protect time, and create a new recurring-revenue business.
This role is bigger than dashboards.
We're building a project-health infrastructure layer that helps customers understand whether work is on track, where time is being lost, what is creating risk, and where intervention can materially improve financial outcomes.
This leader will own commercialization by connecting customer need, product design, data architecture, operational workflow, and business model.
Think like the General Manager of a product company inside an industrial operating company.
What You'll Do
Define the External Data Product Strategy
Translate the project-health thesis into clearly defined customer problems, products, and use cases.Prioritize products that protect schedule, reduce downtime, improve labor and equipment productivity, strengthen compliance, and reduce total project cost.Define what becomes software, insight, managed service, embedded workflow, subscription, or bundled solution.Develop pricing, packaging, recurring-revenue models, and commercialization strategy.Build & Commercialize the Project-Health Platform
Define the first MVPs and move rapidly from concept to customer pilots.Integrate order data, equipment telematics, project activity, inventory, logistics, and operational signals into meaningful customer insight.Make time the organizing variable by helping customers identify schedule health, leading indicators of delay, root causes, and opportunities for intervention.Demonstrate measurable customer ROI through before-and-after economics.Build a Customer-Led Product Development Engine
Co-develop products with strategic customers.Validate willingness to adopt and pay before making significant investments.Focus on solving meaningful customer problems, not building technology for technology's sake.Create repeatable implementations while ensuring strong governance around data ownership, security, and customer confidentiality.Build the Business, Not Just the Product
Own recurring revenue growth, pilots, gross margin, and long-term EBITDA contribution.Build the team as adoption grows.Create disciplined customer onboarding, implementation, support, renewal, and expansion processes.Develop technology partnerships where they accelerate customer value while preserving PSS's differentiated position.Connect Digital Strategy to Enterprise Value
Evaluate acquisition targets that strengthen our data, workflow, automation, inspection, and project-intelligence capabilities.Help determine when PSS should build, buy, or partner.Create a credible path from internal capability to differentiated recurring revenue.Ensure every digital initiative strengthens, not distracts from, our core solutions business.
What Success Looks Like
Success means customers actually use what we build.
You'll be measured by:
Customer adoptionRecurring revenue growthDemonstrated customer valueProduct repeatabilityCustomer expansion and retentionStrategic influence on core revenue and M&A decisions
First-Year Priorities
During your first 12 months, you'll:
Define the initial external product architecture.Select the first one or two monetizable use cases.Secure strategic design partners.Launch at least one live MVP using real project or operational data.Establish pricing, contracting, customer success, and commercialization models.Build a three-year product and revenue roadmap.Demonstrate measurable customer value and create a path toward scalable recurring revenue.
Ideal Background
We're looking for someone who has:
Built and commercialized B2B data, analytics, SaaS, industrial technology, or workflow products.Experience selling outcomes to CEOs, Presidents, and COOs while partnering effectively with technical teams.Taken ambiguous customer problems from discovery through MVP, product-market fit, pricing, and scale.Strong understanding of recurring-revenue economics, customer success, and product P&L.Experience operating inside industrial, infrastructure, construction, energy, or operational businesses. The ability to simplify complex data into clear customer decisions and measurable business outcomes.A bias for speed, pilots, and learning, balanced with discipline around customer trust and data security.
What This Role Is Not
Not an internal BI or analytics role. Not a CIO, CTO, or enterprise IT position. Not a data scientist expected to build every model. Not a software product manager without revenue responsibility. Not an innovation role measured by prototypes instead of customer adoption and economic value.
