Description

Hi! I'm Agry, technical co-founder at Nejo. We're looking for someone to help us fix job search and recruiting for good. Job search is broken for everyone involved, and we're building the thing that changes that. Over 350,000 people already use Nejo's AI-jobsearch-agent. Our users tell us they finally found something that "gets" what they're looking for. Now we're looking for a Product Engineer who wants to own what we build next. Tasks What "Product Engineer" means at Nejo Not a coder who receives tickets. Not a PM who hands off specs. One person who drives a feature end to end: You talk to users and dig through data to find what's worth building You write the spec yourself, including the hypothesis and how you'll measure success You drive the implementation, using AI tooling aggressively but never blindly You ship, then go back to the same users, gather feedback, and iterate The outcome is yours, but the build is always a team sport: you know when to pull in your colleagues, and you coordinate them efficiently instead of grinding through everything alone. Owning a feature for us means orchestrating the people around it, not locking yourself in a room with it. Requirements Who this role is for Two backgrounds fit. You're one of these: 1) The engineer who wants more than code. You have a solid software engineering track record, and you're energized (not threatened) by the fact that pure coding is becoming the lesser part of the job. You want to be the one talking to users, making product calls, taking architecture decisions and and owning outcomes, not just implementation. or 2) The product person who became technical. You come from product, and you've used AI to push way past writing specs from a user's perspective. You can drive implementation yourself, with a self-taught technical understanding deep enough to ship things that are far beyond "vibe-coded". You know what production-quality means, and you know when you're out of your depth. Our stack Whichever of the two you are, this is what you'd be working with: TypeScript end to end: React with TanStack Start on the front, a typed Node API behind it, and Python for our data pipelines, plus everyday scripting, because half of moving fast is automating your own work. Underneath: NoSQL databases, a sophisticated search engine, a vector DB, and key-value caches. Our LLM features run on Azure Foundry, and that's not the only Azure service we lean on; general Azure experience goes a long way here. Product analytics, tracing, and proper CI/CD complete the picture. Ideally, you've worked with most of these professionally before. We love working AI-assisted, but we also curse this new way of working at least once every day. Ideally you can relate here, and you understand the importance of context engineering and what it takes (both mentally and physically ;)) to be in charge when working with AI. We use Claude Code, but we're fine if you prefer a different tool. How we build We believe that building a 10x better product starts with understanding our users deeply: We build based on evidence, not opinions Every feature starts with a user impact estimation and ends with data validation "You think" always yields to "users show" Everyone at Nejo immerses themselves in our users' world, regardless of role We move extremely fast. Fast beats perfect, though we recognize when quality needs to take priority. We use AI intelligently, in our product and in our workflows. We understand both the capabilities and the limitations of AI-supported development. That means thinking through architecture and trade-offs yourself instead of accepting whatever your coding agent suggests first. Communication is KEY. Sharing an opinion is not optional but required. We expect you to speak your mind, stay comfortable when there's disagreement in the room, and make decisions without waiting for full consensus. Apply if: You've shipped features end to end before and can prove it: from problem discovery through implementation to iteration after launch, and you've effectively coordinated a team around that delivery You typically bring 3+ years of relevant experience. Less is fine if what you've shipped speaks for itself. You proactively seek direct user contact instead of waiting for feedback to reach you You're comfortable in our stack (React, Python, TanStack) or can credibly get productive in it fast You're fluent with LLMs and AI-assisted development, and you understand where they fail You understand and appreciate the upside of owning company equity You're fluent in German or English Benefits You get to build something that actually matters. We're solving a real problem that affects millions of people in their professional lives. Your ideas go from concept to production quickly, and you see the direct impact through user feedback and data. You'll be able to significantly move the needle every single day - the kind of impact that's rare outside of founding your own company. We offer extreme transparency: you'll always know where the company stands and what we're aiming for next genuine ownership and direct work with the founders regular contact with actual users of a growing platform attractive compensation of salary 65-70k + company equity We work from our Vienna office because we enjoy collaborating in person, not because we have to. Work from home is possible and entirely self-directed: you decide what's in the company's best interest on a given day. No daily standups, no unnecessary meetings. We've built a team that genuinely cares about each other while caring deeply about our business - more a group of friends on a shared mission than traditional colleagues. Interview Process We keep our interview process straightforward and respectful of your time: Step 1: Initial conversation with a founder to discuss your background and our vision Step 2:Product-and-tech deep dive: we'll talk through real problems we're solving, including a practical exercise that mirrors the actual work you'd be doing at Nejo, from user problem to proposed solution Step 3:Final meeting with the team to ensure mutual fit We know great candidates have options! We promise feedback at every stage and aim to move quickly.
