Highlights

High-impact engineering role with strong compensation, equity potential, and ownership of technically challenging real-world systems. Engineers have broad responsibility and direct product influence.

Description

Software Engineer | C++ / Python | Real-Time Systems $140,000 - $250,000 + Equity | Brooklyn, New York Why this is worth your attention: $140k-$250k base + meaningful equityBuild real-time software connected to physical systems, not another SaaS productJoin an early-stage engineering company tackling a major problem in aviationWork across C++, Python, hardware integration, networking and real-time dataGenuine end-to-end ownership. Engineers own problems, not ticketsSmall, highly technical environment where what you build has a direct impact on the product I'm recruiting for an early-stage engineering company developing next-generation technology for the aviation industry. They're taking on a technically difficult problem where software has to work reliably in the real world. That means combining production software with hardware, sensors, networking and real-time data. This isn't a narrowly defined embedded position. Depending on your strengths, you could be building real-time and low-latency systems, backend services, hardware interfaces, data pipelines or applications used by operators. The common thread is ownership. They want engineers who can take an ambiguous technical problem, work out what needs building and get it into production. What they're looking for You'll ideally have 2-8 years of software engineering experience, with strong production experience in C++ and/or Python. They'll particularly value: Low-level, real-time, embedded or systems programming experienceExperience owning core product or systems workBackgrounds in robotics, autonomy, aerospace, automotive, defence-tech or other complex engineering environmentsEvidence you've built something independently, whether that's open source, a side project, hardware build or your own productA Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline Experience with safety-critical systems is useful. Aviation experience isn't required. An interest in building difficult software for physical systems matters more. The practical bit Salary: $140,000 - $250,000 + equity Location: Brooklyn, New York Working pattern: Predominantly on-site This won't suit someone looking for a remote-first role. But if you want serious engineering ownership, difficult technical problems and software that has consequences beyond a screen, it's worth a conversation.
