Software Engineering Manager - Frontend & Full-Stack Engineering
Help Build the Future of Ashley’s Digital Experience

We’re looking for a hands-on Software Engineering Manager who is as passionate about building software as they are about developing teams.
Initially, you’ll spend approximately 60% of your time writing production code while leading a team of 5–7 frontend and full-stack engineers.
As the organization grows and additional technical leaders join the team, your role will evolve to focus more heavily on technical strategy, mentorship, and organizational leadership.

Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5–7 frontend and full-stack engineers.Remain hands-on by designing, building, testing, and delivering meaningful production code.Modernize Ashley’s customer-facing digital platforms used by millions of shoppers.Build scalable, high-performing web experiences using modern frontend and full-stack technologies.Guide frontend architecture, technical design, code quality, and engineering standards.Lead code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.Improve application performance, reliability, accessibility, and maintainability.Partner with Product, Design, Data, AI, and other engineering teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences.Support the hiring, onboarding, and professional development of engineers.Foster a collaborative engineering culture built on trust, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Frontend and Full-Stack Engineering
8+ years of experience building modern frontend or full-stack applications.Expert-level experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.Strong experience with React and/or Next.js.Deep knowledge of frontend architecture, scalable application design, and performance optimization.Experience designing, building, and consuming REST APIs and/or GraphQL services.Full-stack development experience using Node.js or C#.Experience with modern frontend frameworks; Svelte or SvelteKit experience is a plus.
Engineering Leadership
3+ years of experience leading software engineering teams.Experience managing frontend and/or full-stack engineers.A strong track record of coaching, mentoring, hiring, and developing engineering talent.Experience leading code reviews, architecture discussions, and complex technical decisions.The ability to balance hands-on engineering work with team leadership and delivery responsibilities.A collaborative leadership style that promotes trust, accountability, and technical excellence.
E-Commerce and Digital Product Experience
Experience building customer-facing digital products is essential.
We’re particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
Retail, e-commerce, or other high-traffic consumer web platforms.Modern commerce platforms and architectures.Headless commerce or composable architecture.Progressive Web Applications.Web performance optimization and Core Web Vitals.Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud is preferred but not required.
Experience with Shopify, Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, or similar commerce platforms is also valuable.
