What you’ll do: We're seeking a Senior Materials Handling Engineer to join our Newcastle Mining team. This role is ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in bulk materials handling and a passion for delivering practical, fit-for-purpose solutions across the mining industry. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll contribute to the delivery of studies, design packages and project execution activities for clients across coal, metals and minerals projects throughout Australia. Lead the design and delivery of bulk materials handling systems for mining projectsDevelop engineering solutions for conveyors, transfer stations, crushers, feeders, bins, chutes and associated equipmentPrepare design calculations, specifications, technical reports and engineering documentationSupport project delivery across study, concept, detailed design and execution phasesCollaborate with mechanical, structural, electrical, process and civil engineering teamsProvide technical leadership and mentoring to developing engineersEngage directly with clients, vendors and project stakeholdersParticipate in site visits, inspections and commissioning support when required About you: You are a collaborative and technically capable engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and building strong client relationships. You'll ideally bring: Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering8+ years' experience in mining, minerals processing, bulk materials handling or heavy industryStrong experience with bulk materials handling systems and equipmentKnowledge of conveyor systems, transfer chutes, feeders, crushers, bins and stockpile handling infrastructureExperience delivering sustaining capital, brownfield or operational improvement projectsStrong understanding of Australian and industry engineering standardsExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsChartered status or progression towards chartership will be highly regarded Why WSP?
