Software Developer (Node.js & AWS)

Job Title: Node.JS Developer Salary: £50k-£55k + 5% Pension - 25 Days Annual Leave Location: Remote Clearance: BPSS Stages: 1 Stage Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable Back End services using Node.js.Build and consume RESTful APIs and microservices.Develop secure, performant, and maintainable applications following best practices.Collaborate with Front End developers to integrate user-facing components.Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.Write clean, reusable, and well-tested code.Create unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.Work closely with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines.Contribute to technical design discussions and architecture decisions.Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements.Ensure solutions comply with government security, accessibility, and data protection standards. Essential Skills Strong commercial experience with Node.js.Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and/or TypeScript.Experience building REST APIs and microservices.Knowledge of Express.js or NestJS.Experience with asynchronous programming and event-driven architecture.Strong understanding of authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT).Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.Familiarity with Docker and containerisation.Experience using Git and collaborative development workflows.Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including SOLID principles and design patterns.Experience writing automated tests using Jest, Mocha, or similar frameworks.
