Senior Backend Engineer (Python)

Where are we headed? eSHARE is building the backend services and governance systems that let enterprises extend their Microsoft 365 investment to external collaboration safely – enforcing policy, security, and compliance at scale, without slowing teams down. About the Role This role sits on the Governance team, which owns some of the backend services that help eSHARE with daily operations. The successful candidate will design, build, and operate the microservices running across Azure and AWS that the platform depends on every day. Description Design, build, and maintain backend microservices mainly using Python (experience in other languages is a plus) Develop and deploy services to Azure and AWS Work with cloud infrastructure: Kubernetes, Blob Storage, EventHub, Service Bus, S3, MSK, etc. Use Dapr for service-to-service communication and state management Conduct performance analysis and load testing on production services Write unit, regression, and end-to-end tests Use Terraform for infrastructure as code Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate development and build internal skills/automations Required skills 5-7 years of backend engineering experience in Python Hands-on experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, async Python, and Dapr Experience deploying and maintaining microservices on Azure and AWS Experience with K8s, blob storage, EventHub, Service Bus, S3, MSK Experience with databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and data warehouses Strong data modeling skills and experience writing performant SQL queries Experience with Kibana and Grafana for observability Strong testing discipline: unit, regression, and end-to-end BA/BS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience) Nice to have Keycloak SQS Redis NoSQL databases Databricks Who you are Open-minded and willing to pick up new technologies.Having a strong analytical mindset.Excited about working in a lean scale up environment.Passionate in finding intelligent solutions to ambiguous problems.Eager to dive in and learn in a fast-paced environment.Collaborative team player with attention to detail.
