Position Overview
The Premier Lacrosse League is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to lead frontend development across our web platforms and hybrid mobile applications.
You will own the technical direction of our fan-facing products while managing and mentoring a team of frontend engineers.
This role requires deep expertise in React and Next.js, combined with strong leadership skills and a commitment to leveraging AI tools to accelerate team velocity.
You will partner with Product, Design, and Backend Engineering to deliver performant, accessible, and engaging experiences that connect fans to the sport of lacrosse, from live game experiences to fantasy platforms and beyond.
Qualifications
Technical Leadership: Set technical standards, establish best practices, and make architectural decisions that scale across web and mobile platforms.
Drive adoption of modern tooling and workflows across the frontend team.React & Next.js Development: Architect and build production React applications with TypeScript, leveraging Next.js for server-side rendering, static generation, and optimized performance.AI-Native Workflow: Champion the use of AI coding tools like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor across the team to accelerate feature delivery, automate boilerplate, debug efficiently, and prototype solutions rapidly.Component System Design: Build and maintain reusable component libraries and design system implementations that ensure consistency across web and mobile platforms.Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, implement lazy loading strategies, optimize bundle sizes, and ensure smooth animations and interactions.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product and Design to translate requirements into technical specifications, provide accurate estimates, and advocate for engineering best practices.Code Quality: Champion testing practices (unit, integration, E2E), conduct thorough code reviews, and maintain high standards for code maintainability and documentation.
Requirements
5+ years of professional frontend development experience with a strong portfolio of shipped productsExpert-level proficiency in React and TypeScript with a deep understanding of hooks, context, and modern React patternsStrong production experience with Next.js, including App Router, server components, and deployment strategiesDemonstrated daily use of AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) with the ability to articulate how these tools enhance your productivityExperience with MUI, styled-components, or similar styling frameworksFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelinesExcellent communication skills with the ability to mentor engineers and explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholdersPassion for sports, fan experiences, and building products that delight usersExperience with live/real-time data applications (sports, gaming, media) is a plus
Compensation
$120K - $140KBased on the candidate’s experience, seniority, and locationThe total compensation package includes Annual Bonus, Health, Life, Dental, and Vision Insurance, 401(k) plan, Equity Sharing, Unlimited PTO, and Paid Parental Leave
