Senior Platform Engineer (Kubernetes / GitOps) Location: Utrecht, Netherlands Setup: Hybrid (1-2 days onsite per week) Contract: Freelance (ZZP) or Permanent About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our DSI team. You will play a key role in designing, maintaining, and evolving our modern platform infrastructure, supporting business-critical services and engineering teams. The successful candidate will have strong experience in Kubernetes, GitOps, Linux infrastructure, and platform engineering practices. You will be responsible for maintaining highly available environments, improving automation, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of our platform ecosystem. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain enterprise platform infrastructureManage Kubernetes environments and supporting platform componentsDevelop and optimise GitOps deployment modelsMaintain CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworksAdminister Linux-based systems and servicesSupport networking integrations and platform connectivityPerform incident investigation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysisManage platform lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, and maintenanceEnsure platform security, resilience, and high availabilityCollaborate with engineering teams to enhance deployment and operational processesSupport VMware-based infrastructure where required Required Skills & Experience Extensive experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering rolesStrong Kubernetes administration and operations experienceExperience implementing and operating GitOps delivery modelsStrong Linux administration skillsExperience with GitLab and CI/CD toolingUnderstanding of networking concepts and infrastructure integrationsExperience designing and supporting highly available environmentsStrong troubleshooting and incident management capabilitiesExperience with VMware infrastructure Nice to Have HarborNexus Repository ManagerKyvernoCloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP)Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
