The Role As a Front-End Engineer within our Engineering org, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the user-facing applications and interfaces that power Smarkets' products. You will collaborate closely with engineering managers, technical leadership, product managers, and designers to deliver intuitive, high-performing web and mobile experiences aligned with the Smarkets product roadmap. Smarkets is looking for talented and passionate front-end engineers like you for an exciting opportunity to craft polished, responsive, and performant interfaces that will not only elevate the trading experience but also take Smarkets to new heights of success. We believe in using the best tools for the job. Our web apps are built with Next.js & React, and our mobile apps with React Native, all in TypeScript. We manage state with Redux and React Query, stream real-time trading data over WebSockets, and consume REST APIs across our services. Responsibilities Design, implement and maintain complex features and interfaces across web and mobile (iOS & Android), built with React, React Native and TypeScriptWork closely with Product, Design and other engineering teams to scope and lead business goal-aligned projectsTranslate designs and prototypes from Figma into polished, functional and pixel-perfect interfacesImplement monitoring and error tracking to ensure the stability and performance of our user-facing applicationsHelp reinforce the standard for code quality, by writing tests and reviewing merge requestsContinuously improve engineering processes including CI/CDBe the champion of the stack by demonstrating first-hand how to implement functionality the right way, with an eye to the horizon and your mind on the present Role Requirements 4+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a strong focus on front-end developmentStrong proficiency in TypeScript and ReactA track record of collaborating closely with Designers and Product ManagersFamiliarity with DevOps tools and practices, including GitLab and KubernetesA solid understanding of distributed systems in a modern cloud environmentExperience profiling front-end performance to identify and resolve bottlenecksFamiliarity with Figma and Design-to-Code workflowsExcellent written and spoken communication skills in EnglishThe ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teamsProficiency with AI-driven development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and documentation Nice to have Hands-on experience with Next.js and React NativeExperience with state management tools such as Redux or React QueryExperience in the Sports Betting or Finance industriesExperience writing and maintaining end-to-end tests (Maestro, Playwright)A user-centric mindset and a genuine interest in UX Our Values Our values are at the heart of everything we do - guiding how we work, collaborate, and innovate.
