Lead Azure Cloud & DevOps Engineer

LAB3 is a leading Managed Services Provider focused on empowering organizations leveraging Microsoft tech and automation in the Cloud, Modern Workplace, Security, Network, and Data space. We are looking for a Lead Engineer- Cloud & DevOps to lead, deliver & oversee ongoing support to clients, including continual service improvement and modernization on a Microsoft Azure Platform. You will influence governance, processes and documentation and support internal uplift, with an emphasis on automation. The Role Incorporate the Player-Coach model, mentor and work with a high-perming team, ensuring role clarity, shared standards, and alignment. Foster a high-performing team culture focused on ownership, transparency, and client empathy. Lead technical client engagements around architecture design and strategy. Understand strategic business requirements and drive high level design, consultation, maturity assessments and delivery of appropriate solutions in an Azure cloud environment.  Design, advise and implement state-of-the-art technical patterns on Azure that address clients’ requirements for scalability, reliability, security, operations, and performance. Provide deep reviews and deliverables whilst engaging as a SME. Identify and nurture growth opportunities within existing clients. Recommend client value creation initiatives and implement industry best practices, Communicate and present discoveries to Senior Management and Executive stakeholders (including C-Suite & Directors), as required. Partner with Project Leaders to provide technical input into scheduling, estimating activities and project delivery, as required Support our pre-sales teams in driving documentation, written requirements, and transformative direction. Interact with technical delivery, project, and sales teams Help setup proof-of-concept prototypes that assess the feasibility of solutions and demonstrate to our clients how technology can be leveraged. Identify, interpret, and communicate meaningful insights, conclusions, cost estimations, workshops, presentations, and report to clients Run workshops and cloud adoption activities with our customers as necessary. Play a critical role in the hiring and interview process for new LAB3sters Provide technical leadership and be a role model to engineers by providing onboarding support, influencing development plans, mentoring, educating, and encouraging best practice regarding designs and delivery execution processes. The Ideal Candidate Will have high-end technical skills in Azure cloud and DevOps & on-prem environments, combined with a proactive client focus, mentoring skills and excellent communication skills. You play the game and coach others, in a typical Player-Coach model.Commercially aware, with a client-first mindset.A passion for continuous improvement, an instinct for spotting areas of improvement and the initiative to do something about it.Strong documentation discipline with a methodical approach to process. You follow established frameworks rigorously, and when you find a gap, you don't wait to be asked to fill it.You are an Australian Citizen with NV1 security clearance (or the ability to get such clearance) based in Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra.Microsoft Azure certifications a plus.Deep experience on the following: Azure IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, Azure Network, Azure Security, Azure IAM and RBAC Design, Azure DevOps - Azure Automation, IaC – Terraform, Open-source containers (AKS Kubernetes) , Azure Integration and Microservices, Azure Resource Manager - ARM Templates, Azure Functions, Key Vault & Backups, Azure Security Centre Operations, Azure Management Groups & Subscription Management , PowerShell module creation and management, Secure Azure SQL solutions & Cloud Storage, Cloud identity, Security, Governance, Licensing, Azure Backup, Azure Portal & AD.
