Lead a development team of around 10 engineers while maintaining a hands-on coding role. The position combines people coaching with architecture, technical quality, sprint planning, and delivery ownership, offering a balanced leadership-and-engineering workload and opportunities to support the growth of colleagues across projects.
Description
Are you an experienced developer who has grown into a leadership role? As Teamlead Development, you lead both the people and the technology behind Atabase, our platform that includes a case management system, digital forms, a CRM module, document management, and personal portals.
Roughly half your week goes into coaching and steering the team, the other half you spend writing code yourself.
That balance shifts from sprint to sprint, and you're sharp at spotting what matters most in any given week.
What You'll Do
You lead a team of around 10 front-end and back-end developers.
One thing that makes this role distinct: you give day-to-day direction to the Atabase team you work in yourself, and you support the growth of colleagues working on other projects from a distance.
You take the lead in sprint planning and refinement, and you're ultimately responsible for the technical quality, architecture, and delivery of Atabase. You make architectural decisions and explain the reasoning behind them to your team and to Product. You pick up challenging tickets yourself and step in wherever a sprint needs it.You hold regular check-ins and performance reviews with your roughly 10 team members and support their growth, even for the ones you don't work with day to day.You guard scope and expectations with Product, and you flag early when something isn't realistic. You work directly with the Head of Development and the Head of Product, and join the monthly teamlead meeting with all other teamleads.
That's where you turn issues from the floor into real process improvements.
A suggestion from that meeting has, for example, actually been implemented before.
Who You Are
You're a strong senior-level developer who's just as comfortable in a leadership role.
You're confident making architectural decisions, you keep scope in check, and you help a team of mid-level and senior developers keep growing.
What You Bring
At least seven years of development experience, including at least two years in a lead or management role.Hands-on development experience at a senior level. The ability to make architectural decisions and explain them clearly.Experience with sprint planning and process management. The ability to manage scope and expectations, and to coach and evaluate team members.
You'll also recognize yourself here: you separate what matters from what doesn't, quickly.
You can say no without losing credibility.
You switch easily between strategy and day-to-day work.
And you know how to adjust existing team habits at the right pace, rather than changing everything at once.
What We Offer
You get end-to-end ownership of a real product, Atabase, and of the growth of around 10 developers.
You genuinely combine leadership with hands-on development, rather than a purely managerial role.
You have a direct line to the Head of Development, and a real say in process improvements through the monthly teamlead meeting, ones that actually get put into practice.
We celebrate wins informally: releases and milestones get marked together, with the occasional team activity and weekly drinks.
Over time, you can grow into a broader leadership role within our tech department of around 50 people.
A day in your life as Teamlead Development
You start the day with the Atabase team's stand-up, syncing on what's on for the day.
Next up is a check-in with one of your team members, where you talk through their development together.
Mid-morning, you dig into an architecture question for a new Atabase module and talk through the approach with a senior developer.
After lunch, you pick up a challenging ticket yourself, since this sprint needs more coding than coaching from you.
Late afternoon, you prepare the sprint planning and check in with Product on where the scope is realistic.
Once a month, this day wraps up with the teamlead meeting with Bryse and the other teamleads.
