We are seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to design, build and maintain internal platforms that empower development teams with self-service capabilities for deploying, monitoring and managing applications at scale.
Responsibilities
Design, build and maintain internal platforms that provide development teams with self-service capabilities for deploying, monitoring and managing applications at scaleDevelop and maintain standardized tools, frameworks and libraries to streamline development workflows and promote best practices across multiple teamsEnsure seamless integration of various development tools and services within the platform ecosystem to support a large number of development teamsImprove the overall developer experience by providing robust documentation, training and support for platform tools and servicesImplement practices to ensure high availability, reliability and performance of the platforms, supporting the needs of numerous development teamsUtilize DORA metrics (Deployment Frequency, Lead Time for Changes, Change Failure Rate, Mean Time to Recovery) to measure and improve the performance of development and operational processesStay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance platform functionality and developer productivityCollaborate with development, operations and security teams to ensure seamless integration and support of applicationsProvide technical guidance and support to resolve platform-related issues and improve overall system health
Requirements
At least 5 years of related experience in platform engineering or a related roleUnderstanding of software development processes, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesProficiency in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep) and GitOps tools (Flux, ArgoCD)Familiarity with tools like Crossplane, Pulumi and AWS Controllers for Kubernetes (ACK) for managing cloud resourcesExperience with Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) such as Backstage, Humanitec and OpsLevel to enhance developer productivityUnderstanding of and experience working with high availability, high performance, multi-data center systems and hybrid cloud environmentsSkills in scripting with Bash, Shell and PythonAbility to troubleshoot complex issues ranging from system resources to application stack tracesGood English communication skills (speaking, writing and reading)
