Mid-Level Full Stack Software Engineer

Job Summary We are seeking a mid-level Full Stack Software Engineer who builds end-to-end web applications with Python on the backend and React.js on the frontend, deployed on Google Cloud Platform. This role is ideal for an engineer who is comfortable owning features from API to UI, has solid data skills (strong SQL and hands-on ETL/ELT pipeline experience), and works fluently with AI-assisted and agentic development tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot as part of their daily workflow. You should also be comfortable working directly with clients, from gathering requirements to demoing delivered work. Job Description You will work directly with clients and alongside fellow engineers to design, build, and ship features across our web applications and backend services. This is a client-facing engineering role: you will gather requirements, propose solutions, give demos, and keep clients informed throughout delivery. Beyond writing code, you will help shape how the team leverages agentic AI tooling to move faster without sacrificing quality, making this role a strong fit for engineers who are curious about the future of AI-assisted software development Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain full stack web applications using Python on the backend and React.js on the frontend.Build and consume RESTful APIs and backend services, with attention to performance, security, and maintainability.Use agentic development tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to accelerate development, refactoring, testing, and code review, while maintaining ownership of code quality.Apply agentic engineering practices: using context engineering strategies, connecting agentic tools to external systems and data sources, and building agentic workflows that automate parts of your own development process, while critically reviewing AI-generated output before it ships.Design and optimize database schemas and queries across relational and NoSQL data stores, writing performant SQL for application and reporting needs.Build and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines that move, transform, and validate data between application databases, warehouses, and external systems.Deploy, monitor, and manage applications on Google Cloud Platform (e.g., Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage) and Firebase.Write clean, well-tested code with unit and integration tests, and participate in code reviews.Work directly with clients to gather requirements, translate them into technical solutions and realistic estimates, and keep them informed throughout delivery.Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines and contribute to infrastructure and deployment automation.Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, monitoring application health and performance.Communicate progress, blockers, and technical decisions clearly in stand-ups, written updates, and stakeholder discussions.Document technical designs, APIs, and operational runbooks for the team. Job Specification Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience 3-5 years of professional software development experience.At least 2 years of hands-on experience building production applications with Python and React.js.Demonstrable experience deploying and operating applications on a major cloud platform. GCP is preferred, but solid AWS or Azure experience is also welcome.Practical experience using AI-assisted or agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) in real development workflows.Experience building or maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines in a production setting. Technical Skills Strong proficiency in Python for backend development, including building APIs and backend services with frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.Solid proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript on the frontend.Working knowledge of Node.js for scripting, tooling, or occasional backend work.Solid experience with React.js, including hooks, state management, component architecture, and modern build tooling.Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform, GCP preferred (Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL, IAM, Cloud Storage). Equivalent AWS or Azure experience is also acceptable, with willingness to work primarily on GCP.Strong SQL skills: complex queries, joins, window functions, and query optimization on relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).Experience with NoSQL databases (Firestore) alongside relational stores.Familiarity with Firebase services (e.g., Authentication, Firestore, Hosting, Cloud Messaging).Understanding of authentication, authorization, and web application security fundamentals.Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (pull requests, code reviews, branching strategies). Client & Stakeholder Communication Very good verbal and written English communication, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical clients.Comfortable working with clients directly: gathering requirements, discussing scope and trade-offs, and giving demos of delivered work.Proactive in written communication: clear status updates, well-documented decisions, and responsive async collaboration.Able to manage client expectations honestly, flagging risks and delays early rather than surprising anyone late. Nice to have Experience integrating third-party services such as Stripe and Shopify.Experience building or integrating LLM-powered features (e.g., using the Claude API or similar) into applications.Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP), agent frameworks, or AI evaluation practices.Experience with Kubernetes (GKE) or serverless architectures at scale.Experience working across more than one cloud platform (GCP plus AWS or Azure).Contributions to open-source projects or a portfolio of personal/side projects.
