Purpose of the Role: We are seeking an experienced Cloud Developer to build and evolve the products and offerings that power 501’s platform. You will work on our customer-facing web application (the 501 Hub), creating and implementing REST APIs and React-based user interfaces, as well as internal tooling and back-end services that keep our venues running globally. You will collaborate closely with Delivery Managers, Product Owners, QA, and DevOps, across the full development lifecycle, contributing across the full stack from front-end UI through server-side logic to cloud infrastructure and data access. Core Responsibilities: Application Development Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, customers, and end users to identify requirementsCollaborate with Product Owners to turn user stories and acceptance criteria into working featuresBuild and maintain the 501 Hub web application using React and TypeScriptDesign and implement RESTful APIs consumed by web, Android, and in-venue hardware clientsDevelop secure, well-tested server-side logic and database access layersBuild additional cloud offerings as required, internally and customer facingBuild internal tooling and utilities using appropriate technologies Cloud & Infrastructure Understand, deploy, and integrate with different cloud platforms and resourcesCollaborate with DevOps to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerised deploymentsContribute to monitoring and observability solutionsUnderstand and apply cloud security best practices Quality, Testing & Documentation Write automated tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end) for business logic and critical pathsCreate and maintain clear, modular codeParticipate in code review, providing and receiving constructive feedbackPerform exploratory testing and participate in QA review cyclesReport development progress and surface blockers earlyCreate and maintain technical documentation and in-code commentaryPromote knowledge sharing through code review and internal demosTroubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call rotation as needed Continuous Improvement Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimisations for smooth and efficient cloud offeringsStay current with relevant cloud development practices and toolingContribute to technical discussions on architecture, tooling, and process improvements Core Skills: The ‘how’ we fulfil our role is just as important as the ‘what’. The following skills and behaviours are essential for this role: Web Technologies: Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript. Strong React experience including hooks, state management, and component architecture. Strong knowledge of image and video file containers, codecs & formats and the processing, transcoding and optimisation of media for the web and native systemsBack-End & APIs: Solid experience building and consuming RESTful APIs. Comfortable with Node.js or equivalent server-side runtimes. Understanding of authentication patternsDatabases: Working knowledge of relational databases. Comfortable writing queries, designing schemas, and handling migrationsCloud Platforms: Practical experience deploying and integrating with cloud infrastructure and resourcesSecurity-minded: Awareness of OWASP top-10, data protection obligations (GDPR), and secure coding practicesVersion Control & Workflow: Proficient with Git and team-based workflows (pull requests, branching strategies)Agile Practices: Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum teams and general SDLC processes and practicesCommunication: Clear, influential, persuasive communicator; able to articulate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical colleagues, at all levelsCollaboration: Build and maintain trust.
