Job description:
Seat Assembly Line Production Preparation
Lead production preparation activities for new Seat Assembly Lines, new models, and capacity expansion projects.Develop and optimize seat assembly processes, workstation concepts, line layouts, and material flow.Define production sequence, cycle times, takt time, manpower requirements, buffers, and line balancing.Prepare technical specifications for assembly equipment, tooling, fixtures, conveyors, testing equipment, and automation systems.Define equipment and process requirements together with Production, Quality, Logistics, Maintenance, IT/MES, and other related departments.Participate in equipment concept reviews, design reviews, risk assessments, and technical approvals.Ensure that equipment concepts meet required productivity, quality, ergonomics, safety, and maintainability targets.
Seat Assembly Line Installation & Commissioning
Take an active role in installation, commissioning, and start-up of Seat Assembly Lines.Coordinate equipment suppliers during manufacturing, pre-acceptance, installation, commissioning, and final acceptance phases.Follow up installation progress, technical open points, and countermeasure activities.Lead dry runs, equipment trials, production trials, and ramp-up activities.Troubleshoot production and equipment issues during installation and launch phases.Support line optimization and stabilization until required production targets are achieved.Ensure smooth handover of equipment and processes to Production and Maintenance teams.
Seat Assembly Line Software & Systems
Have a strong understanding of Seat Assembly Line software architecture and production control systems.Work closely with automation, PLC, MES, IT, and equipment suppliers during software development and commissioning.Support definition and validation of production sequence control, model/variant management, traceability, interlocks, error-proofing, and production data collection.Understand the interaction between MES, line control systems, PLCs, production equipment, scanners, printers, vision systems, and other shop-floor devices.Support troubleshooting of software-related production issues together with relevant specialists and suppliers.Participate in software functionality reviews, testing, validation, and acceptance activities.Ensure correct implementation of production recipes, model variants, process parameters, and traceability requirements.
Seat Assembly Process Engineering
Provide technical expertise in automotive seat assembly processes and equipment.Support processes such as seat frame assembly, foam and trim assembly, wiring/harness installation, fastening, torque-controlled operations, functional testing, inspection, labeling, and traceability.Define and improve poka-yoke and error-proofing concepts.Analyze production bottlenecks and implement countermeasures.Improve line efficiency, productivity, cycle time, quality, and equipment availability.Support PFMEA, Control Plan, work instruction, and process documentation preparation.Drive continuous improvement and cost-reduction activities after SOP.
Project & Supplier Management
Manage technical activities with equipment and automation suppliers from concept phase through final acceptance.Track project timing, technical milestones, open issues, and action plans.Ensure timely escalation of risks that may impact installation, commissioning, or SOP.Coordinate technical meetings and project reviews with internal teams and suppliers.Support FAT/SAT and equipment acceptance activities.Ensure technical documentation, drawings, software backups, manuals, and spare-part information are properly delivered.
General Items & Requirements
Prepare Master schedule and budget for new projects (incl.
equipment schedule, line balancing, layout preparation, risk evaluation - PFMEA, tools capacity evaluation, Cp/Cpk);Investigate issues from current model/recent PJT and forecast future impact on new process concept;Change management: estimate the impact of running changes and kaizen implementation;Report project status to division management;Lead innovative process studies such as automation and search for new technologies by doing proto activities;Develop production process concepts for future Business: Achieving financial KPI (ROI/IRR/BEP, etc);Perform benchmarking activities in different group plants or competitors;Preparing the technical files and technical presentation according to customer’s expectations;When possible (pending workload), can aid the VA/VE in identifying cost savings ideas.Willing to learn new innovation and technologies, and use in his/her daily activitiesDue to plants and equipment makers are located in different countries (South Africa, Türkiye, France & Poland ), willing to make many business trips if needed
Who we are looking for;
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.Proven experience in automotive Seat Assembly Line production preparation, installation, commissioning, or launch activities.Hands-on experience with Seat Assembly Line equipment and production processes.Experience in Seat Assembly Line software, MES, line control, traceability, or automation systems is strongly preferred.Good understanding of PLC-based production equipment and industrial communication concepts; PLC programming experience is an advantage but not mandatory.Experience with line balancing, capacity calculation, cycle-time analysis, layout development, and process optimization.Experience in equipment specification, supplier management, FAT/SAT, installation, and commissioning.Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, poka-yoke, ergonomics, and automotive quality requirements.CAD software knowledge, Catia, NX, Solidworks, Autocad are preferred;MS Office advanced knowledge is preferred;Familiarity with problem solving methods (TBBP, A3 Reporting, Six Sigma, 8D, etc);Good command of written and spoken English.Willingness to travel domestically and internationally according to project requirements.
