Product Developer – Fashion Accessories Location: Alexandria, NSW Employment: Full-time About the Role We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Product Developer to join a growing fashion accessories business supplying prominent retailers across Australia and New Zealand. This is an exciting end-to-end product development role where you will take products from initial concept through to production and delivery. Working closely with Buying, Planning, Production, QA, suppliers, retailers and licensors, you will develop trend-driven products that are creative, commercially viable and aligned to customer and retailer requirements. This is a fast-paced role suited to someone who enjoys being hands-on with product and can balance design, technical development, supplier management, costing, quality and deadlines. What You'll Be Doing Develop commercially successful, trend-led fashion accessory ranges across multiple retail programs.Take ownership of products from initial concept and range building through to sampling, approval, production and delivery.Research fashion, consumer and competitor trends to identify new product and innovation opportunities.Develop product briefs, designs, specifications and technical documentation.Create and maintain tech packs, material specifications and construction details using Adobe Creative Suite.Work with offshore suppliers and factories to develop products, materials, trims, hardware, packaging and finishes.Manage sample development, including P1/P2 samples, pre-production and final approvals.Review samples for design, construction, colour, functionality and quality, providing clear feedback to suppliers.Negotiate product costing and supplier pricing to achieve commercial and margin targets.Build strong relationships with suppliers and work collaboratively to find cost-effective product and construction solutions.Work with licensors to ensure products meet brand guidelines and approval requirements.Manage critical paths, milestones and approvals to ensure products are delivered on time.Identify and proactively resolve development or production issues.Collaborate with Buying and Planning teams to ensure ranges meet retailer, customer and commercial requirements.Partner with Production and QA to ensure the final product meets agreed quality, safety and compliance standards.Monitor product performance and use market and sales insights to support future range development. About You We are looking for someone who combines creative thinking with strong technical and commercial product development skills. You will ideally have: 3 -5 years' experience in Product Development, Product Design or a similar role within fashion accessories, apparel or consumer products.Strong experience working with offshore suppliers and factories.Hands-on experience taking products from concept through to production.Strong knowledge of accessories construction, materials, trims, hardware and manufacturing processes.Experience creating and managing tech packs and product specifications.Strong Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills.Experience with product costing, supplier negotiation and working to margin targets.Strong understanding of critical path and sample development processes.Excellent attention to detail and a strong quality focus.Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of what makes a product successful at retail.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.The ability to manage multiple products, suppliers and deadlines simultaneously.A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.Experience with licensed brands or licensors such as Disney, Marvel, Warner Bros or similar would be advantageous. You will be comfortable working in a high-volume environment, managing multiple priorities and building strong relationships with suppliers, retailers and internal stakeholders.
