About The Role We are seeking a Cloud Engineer (m/w/d) with a focus on Network Engineering to join our team in Frankfurt am Main. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and operating the foundational infrastructure for the Digital Euro. You will work within an international team of experts, collaborating across national borders with other central banks to develop and maintain the infrastructure necessary for the digital currency initiative. Your main responsibilities will include optimizing cloud environments, automating network configurations, and implementing site reliability engineering practices to ensure high availability and security of the infrastructure. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a STEM field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Business Informatics, or have comparable professional experience. A minimum of three years of experience in designing and managing cloud infrastructure with a focus on networking and Linux system administration is essential. Proficiency in both German and English is required for effective communication within our international teams. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of IaaS and PaaS architectures, network design, automation scripting, and security protocols. Additional qualifications include experience with container technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and IT security practices. Strong analytical skills, teamwork, and willingness to travel for business purposes are also important. Responsibilities Planning, designing, and continuously optimizing IaaS and PaaS environments, ensuring governance, security, cost-efficiency, and performance are maintained at the highest standards.Building, automating, and operating complex network infrastructures in the cloud, including LAN/WAN, routing, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.Implementing and maintaining Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices, such as monitoring, setting SLIs/SLOs, conducting capacity and load testing, and managing incident response and root cause analysis.Developing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Git, Bash/Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies to enhance reliability and accelerate release cycles.Providing 24/7 support through on-call duties and participating in occasional business trips across Europe to support infrastructure needs and project delivery.
