Description
AS/400 Developer responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.
Works closely with business users, analysts, and technical teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions using RPG, CLLE, DB2/400, and SQL technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance applications on IBM AS/400 (IBM i) systems.Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.Design, code, test, and implement RPGLE, CLLE, and SQL-based applications.Create and maintain DB2/400 database files, logical files, and SQL objects.Develop and support batch jobs, reports, interfaces, and online applications.Debug and resolve production issues while ensuring minimal business disruption.Perform code reviews, unit testing, and system integration testing.Optimize program performance and database queries.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business processes.Prepare technical documentation and provide ongoing application support.Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.Integrate AS/400 applications with external systems, APIs, and web services.Required Skills
Strong experience in RPG IV, RPGLE, Free-Format RPG, and CLLE.Proficiency in DB2/400, Embedded SQL, and SQL Programming.Experience with DDS, Physical Files (PF), Logical Files (LF), Display Files, and Printer Files.Knowledge of IBM i operating system and ILE concepts.Familiarity with debugging, performance tuning, and job scheduling.Experience with change management and source control tools.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Preferred Skills
