Description

Company Description Footprints AI is the leading next-gen retail media platform that uses artificial intelligence to understand why people buy, connecting ad campaigns directly to real shopper purchases. The company enables retailers to sell and brands to buy ads both in-store and online, providing precise targeting across a large and growing retail media ecosystem. The platform is designed to make retail advertising more effective, measurable, and customer-centric for organizations of all sizes. The Role We're hiring a senior engineer who can take ambiguous, high-value platform problems and turn them into production-grade software. This is not a ticket-taking role. It's not maintaining one fixed module. And it's not one person owning the whole platform. It's a role for someone who learns fast, reasons clearly, uses AI and modern tooling aggressively, and ships work that makes the platform faster, smarter, and more commercially powerful. What You'll Do • Build platform capabilities across retail media, data, measurement, automation, AI workflows, reporting, integrations, infrastructure, and UX. • Turn unclear business needs into technical options, prototypes, and production systems with measurable impact. • Work with complex retail media data: campaigns, audiences, shopper behavior, transactions, stores, products, media exposure, sales outcomes, attribution. • Ship systems secure, scalable, and reliable enough for retailer-grade and advertiser-facing use. • Improve the engineering machine itself: automate repetitive work, strengthen data quality, raise developer velocity. • Work directly with product, data, commercial, and leadership teams — engineering decisions here connect straight to business impact. What You Need • Strong production fundamentals. Architecture, APIs, data models, testing, performance, security, maintainability. • High learning velocity. You build a mental model of a new domain fast and become useful before everything is documented. • AI-native habits. You use AI tools daily — coding, debugging, testing, refactoring, research — and validate the output with senior judgment. • Product reasoning. You care whether the software improves customer value, speed, measurement, or monetization — not just whether it's elegant. • Systems thinking. You see how data flows, infrastructure, UX, and business logic affect each other. • Comfort with ambiguity. You structure unclear problems, expose tradeoffs, and ship without perfect specs. • Startup ownership. No “not my area.” You find leverage and help the company move faster. What Excellent Looks Like • 30 days: You understand the platform direction, core data flows, and where your work creates leverage. • 60 days: You've shipped improvements that remove friction or unlock new platform capability. • 90 days: You independently take ambiguous problems from idea to production, moving faster than a traditional team would. You Are NOT a Fit If • You need perfectly defined tickets before you can start. • You treat AI tools as magic instead of leverage that requires validation. • You only want to work inside one narrow technical box. • You ship fast by creating future mess. • You can't connect engineering choices to product and business outcomes.
