Job Summary The Principal Software Engineer is a senior individual contributor responsible for defining technical direction, designing scalable software architecture, and establishing engineering standards across the platform. This role partners with Product, Enterprise Technology, and engineering teams to build secure, reliable, and scalable solutions while driving technical excellence through architecture decisions, best practices, and mentorship. The role focuses on platform architecture, data engineering, API integrations, cloud-based systems, and engineering process improvements. Description • Define and drive the technical architecture and engineering direction of the platform in partnership with Product and Enterprise Technology leadership. • Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable software systems, including platform architecture, application frameworks, and data models. • Design and implement secure, reliable, and high-performing solutions that support complex business requirements and large-scale usage. • Develop and maintain architecture standards, coding practices, testing strategies, CI/CD processes, and engineering best practices. • Build and enhance data architecture solutions, including data modeling, governance, and lakehouse/data platform strategies supporting analytics and AI workloads. • Design and optimize API integrations and system connections to support platform scalability and operational efficiency. • Collaborate with engineering teams to review technical solutions, provide guidance, and improve overall development practices. • Drive technical decision-making by evaluating trade-offs, identifying risks, and recommending scalable solutions. • Promote security-first development practices by integrating secure coding principles into software development lifecycle processes. • Identify technical debt, scalability challenges, and opportunities for platform improvement. • Mentor and support engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, code reviews, and architectural discussions. • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements and product roadmaps into effective technical solutions. Required Qualifications • Experience designing and building scalable enterprise applications, platforms, or SaaS solutions. • Experience with software architecture, system design, and engineering best practices. • Experience designing and implementing API-driven architectures and integrations. • Experience with data engineering concepts, including data modeling, data pipelines, data governance, data platforms/lakehouse architecture. • Demonstrates strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices, including CI/CD, testing strategies, code reviews, DevOps practices, observability. • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make complex technical decisions. • Clear and coherent both written and verbal communication skills in English, to effectively influence technical decisions across teams. Screening Criteria • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field. • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in software engineering, with demonstrated experience operating at a senior, staff, or principal engineering level. • Experience with modern technology stacks such as in AWS cloud services, React / Next.js, Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL / SQL databases. • Experience with cloud data technologies such as in Databricks, Snowflake, AWS Glue, Athena, Redshift, or S3-based architectures. • Must have stable employment history.
