A web engineering role focused on building and maintaining a consumer-facing platform using modern frontend technologies and close collaboration with product teams.
Highlights
Take ownership of a complete web environment, make technical decisions, and build features used by many users in a growing technology environment.
Description
Take ownership of the complete web environment of a growing consumer platform within the mobility sector.
You will work with JavaScript, TypeScript and Angular, make independent technical decisions and translate ideas from product, design and marketing into functionality used by thousands of people.
Please note that visa sponsorship and visa transfers are not available for this position.
Company
This Utrecht based technology company develops a consumer platform that makes existing vehicles easier and more efficient to use.
The organisation is entering a new phase of growth and combines the financial stability of an established shareholder with the speed and freedom of a scale up.
Ideas can move from discussion to implementation quickly.
Developers are therefore expected to think beyond their own discipline, make practical decisions and take responsibility for the outcome.
The culture is social, direct and informal.
Colleagues regularly work and have lunch together at the Utrecht office.
People take their work seriously, but there is also plenty of room for humour.
It is a flexible environment built around trust, responsibility and collaboration rather than unnecessary hierarchy or rigid working patterns.
Role description
You will become the main technical owner of the existing web platform and the primary point of contact for everything related to the frontend and public web environment.
The current application is built with Angular 14, TypeScript and RxJS and communicates with REST APIs and .NET backend services.
Part of your responsibility will therefore be to gradually improve and upgrade the existing application while continuing to deliver new functionality.
A significant part of the role involves working with marketing on the public web environment.
This includes adding new components to the existing Payload CMS, supporting commercial initiatives and improving SEO, performance and loading times.
You do not need to be an SEO specialist, but you should understand how traffic, customer journeys and frontend choices influence the commercial performance of a public web platform.
Your responsibilities include:
• Developing new functionality with JavaScript, TypeScript and Angular
• Taking technical ownership of the complete web environment
• Gradually upgrading and modernising the existing Angular 14 application
• Improving customer journeys and internal processes
• Building and maintaining reactive data flows using RxJS and Observables
• Integrating the frontend with REST APIs and .NET backend services
• Adding and improving components within Payload CMS
• Working with marketing on SEO, traffic, performance, loading times and commercial requests
• Translating product and business requirements into practical frontend solutions
• Working closely with product, UX, backend and mobile development
• Thinking along with backend developers about architecture, APIs and technical solutions
• Testing and independently verifying the quality of your own code with Jest
• Contributing to technical decisions, design discussions and code reviews
• Identifying technical improvements and taking the initiative to implement them
• Balancing delivery speed with quality, maintainability and scalability
This is a role for someone who can work independently and does not need a detailed process around every decision.
You should be comfortable challenging assumptions, explaining technical choices and switching between product development, technical improvements and requests from marketing.
