Senior Platform Engineer | New York City | $230,000-$275,000 + Equity
TechShack are working with a fast-growing AI healthcare company building the execution platform behind complex AI and human workflows.
You'll develop the core TypeScript framework, SDK and runtime that engineers build on, underpinned by a distributed, event-sourced architecture designed for correctness, replayability and scale.
What you’ll work on:
Building the TypeScript SDK, framework and runtime powering long-running AI and human workflows.Designing distributed event-sourced systems, including event stores, CQRS, projections and replayable state.Developing workflow execution models, orchestration and state machines for complex, long-running processes.Designing clean developer-facing abstractions that make sophisticated distributed systems simple to build on.Working across schema design, code generation, APIs and data models while maintaining strict provenance and security.
Core requirements:
Strong senior-level software engineering background with deep distributed systems experience.Hands-on experience with event sourcing, CQRS, projections, event stores or replayable architectures.Strong TypeScript, ideally including advanced type-system design.Experience designing SDKs, frameworks, runtimes or developer platforms.Strong hands-on coding ability – this is an engineering role, not an architecture-only position.
Deep understanding of:
Distributed systems architecture and correctness.Workflow orchestration, state machines or durable execution.API and developer experience design.Database, schema and temporal data modelling.Building simple abstractions over complex underlying systems.
Bonus requirements:
Experience with AI agents or agent orchestration platforms.Schema-driven development, DSLs or code generation.Security architecture, authorization or zero-trust systems.Healthcare, FHIR or another highly regulated environment.
