Software Engineer (Python/C++ Trading Systems)

The business focuses on developing and executing technology-driven investment strategies across cryptocurrency markets and decentralised finance. The team combines experience across financial markets, technology and digital assets, with a strong focus on research, quantitative analysis and systematic decision-making. Role Requirement They are looking for a Software Engineer to take ownership of building and enhancing the core technology behind their trading platform. Working directly with traders, you’ll turn trading ideas, operational challenges, and technical requirements into reliable production systems across backend services, exchange connectivity, data infrastructure, and platform architecture. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can investigate complex problems, shape practical solutions, and drive projects from initial concept through implementation, testing, and deployment. Responsibilities Develop and enhance core infrastructure supporting trading, market data, risk controls, and portfolio oversight.Build and manage robust connections to exchanges, blockchain protocols, APIs, and other third-party trading venues.Engineer high-throughput, low-latency services capable of processing live market information and supporting rapid trade execution.Continuously optimise system performance, scalability, stability, and monitoring as trading volumes and integrations expand. Diagnose live production problems, identify root causes, and deliver targeted improvements to minimise disruption.Develop a strong understanding of how information moves across the platform, from core backend infrastructure and services through to user-facing applications.Partner directly with traders to understand challenges, uncover opportunities, and translate them into effective technical solutions.Leverage AI-powered development tools to speed up prototyping, investigation, and delivery, while maintaining strong oversight of generated code and independently validating its quality. Qualifications Demonstrated track record of developing, deploying, and supporting software in live production environments.Advanced Python expertise, particularly across asynchronous applications, backend services, and third-party API connectivity.Practical experience with C++, Rust, or another systems-level programming language.Proven ability to architect concurrent, high-performance applications and diagnose issues that impact system efficiency in production.Hands-on experience working with third-party APIs, real-time processing environments, and SQL-based data stores.Solid understanding of distributed and service-based architectures, including defining service responsibilities, managing data ownership, designing for failures, and implementing effective monitoring.Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with the confidence to work through complex technical and system-level issues.Understanding of modern frontend architecture and end-to-end data flow across backend services, APIs, client-side state, and the user interface.Clear and effective communicator who can collaborate directly with traders, understand their objectives, and translate them into improvements to trading processes and execution.Strong sense of accountability with the ability to take initiative, make sound technical decisions, and deliver independently from high-level direction. Preferred Background in digital assets, financial technology, trading environments, prediction markets, or platforms built around financial and market data.Familiarity with core trading concepts such as order books, order execution, position tracking, portfolio management, and risk controls.Experience working with WebSockets, asynchronous event-driven architectures, and systems designed to handle continuously updating real-time data.Hands-on experience with Python backend frameworks such as FastAPI, relational databases including PostgreSQL, cloud environments, and Linux-based systems.Familiarity with modern frontend technologies, including TypeScript and frameworks such as React or Next.js.Practical experience connecting applications to cryptocurrency exchanges, blockchain networks, or other external trading infrastructure.
