Our multidisciplinary R&D organization in Kontich develops the next generation of microCT platforms, combining cutting-edge imaging science with advanced software, electronics, mechanics, and system engineering. From concept to commercialization, our teams are responsible for imaging technologies, system architecture, prototype verification, software and hardware integration, and the successful transfer of innovations into production and service. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer (all genders) to join our team in Kontich. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain software for advanced microCT systems. Implement new features for instrument control, image acquisition, reconstruction, visualization, and analysis. Collaborate with imaging, hardware, applications, and systems engineers to deliver integrated solutions. Translate product and user requirements into robust, maintainable software designs. Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software and system-level issues. Contribute to software architecture, code quality, and development best practices. Support prototype development, product verification, and release activities. Participate in the development of next-generation microCT platforms and technologies. Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline. 3–5 years of experience in professional software development, preferably for scientific instruments, imaging systems, automation equipment, or machine control applications. Strong expertise in modern C++ and object-oriented software design for complex hardware-integrated systems. Experience developing Windows applications using Qt Framework and Microsoft Visual Studio. Experience with QML is an advantage. Experience designing intuitive user interfaces and developing robust, maintainable software architectures, preferably for scientific instruments, automation systems, or machine control applications. Experience with instrumentation control of cameras, detectors, motion systems, digital signal processing, and data acquisition hardware used in metrology, physics, chemistry, engineering, or similar scientific environments. Experience working with complex hardware-software systems and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions. Experience with Python for automation, testing, data analysis, or rapid prototyping is an advantage. Experience in image acquisition, image processing, computer vision, 2D/3D visualization, OpenCV, OpenGL, or similar technologies is an advantage. Knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, software lifecycle management, and technical documentation practices. Familiarity with communication protocols such as TCP/IP, USB, RS232, RS485, Modbus, or similar hardware interfaces is an advantage. Familiarity with databases (SQL), messaging systems, APIs, or distributed software architectures is an advantage. Experience with source control systems, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and issue tracking tools Experience with embedded systems or real-time hardware control environments is an advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary R&D environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across software, imaging, physics, electronics, mechanical, and application engineering teams.
