Senior Backend Engineer

Enso Recruitment are excited to be working with a globally recognised organisation operating at the heart of international financial markets, who are now looking to bring a talented Senior Back End Engineer into their growing Belfast engineering team. The Opportunity This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced back end engineer who wants to work on complex, high-impact systems at genuine scale. You'll be part of a collaborative, cross-functional team working across the full software development lifecycle, from design and development through to deployment and post-release support. It's a role with real influence, working closely with Architects and Principal Engineers on business-critical software that supports both an internal broking division and a global external client base. Key Responsibilities Design and deliver high-quality software solutions in close collaboration with Architects and Principal EngineersTake full ownership of key features from initial design through to timely, defect-free deliveryPartner with QA to ensure robust testing practices are embedded throughout the development processChampion engineering best practices including unit testing, code reviews, and maintainable design principlesLeverage AI-enabled development tools such as Copilot and code assistants to enhance productivity and delivery velocity within appropriate governance frameworksDesign solutions that meet both functional and non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, and resilienceMentor and support junior engineers, contributing to a high-performing and collaborative team environmentProactively communicate progress, risks, and dependencies, escalating blockers early to keep delivery on track About You 5+ years' experience as a Senior Software Engineer within a complex, delivery-focused environmentStrong expertise in .NET (C#) across modern .NET Framework and .NET Core environmentsProven experience developing distributed, real-time systems and designing scalable componentsSolid experience with relational databases such as MS SQL Server or MySQL, including schema design and optimisationProficiency in WPF application developmentHands-on experience with event-driven and asynchronous messaging architecturesExperience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including deployment and management of cloud-based servicesStrong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (GitHub/GitLab), and package managementComfortable working in Agile environments and delivering across geographically distributed teamsA solid understanding of AI capabilities in software engineering and the ability to apply them responsibly within enterprise frameworks Benefits Hybrid workingBonusPensionPrivate healthcareOngoing learning and support To find out more about this opportunity, hit Apply or reach out to a member of the Enso Recruitment team today!✉️📞
