Job Title: Senior CDN & Cloud Network Engineer
Location: Krakow, Poland
Work Model: Hybrid – 6 days per month in the office
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior CDN & Cloud Network Engineer to take ownership of the edge infrastructure supporting a large-scale public web estate.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on CDN delivery, WAF, DNS, traffic management, and Azure networking.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing changes, troubleshooting complex production issues, improving performance and availability, and supporting edge security.
You will work closely with platform engineering, application, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams and act as a technical subject matter expert for CDN and edge networking.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and optimize Akamai CDN configurations, including caching, routing, origin management, failover, and performance.Own Akamai WAF policies, including rule design, tuning, false-positive management, and response to security incidents.Manage DNS, global traffic management, regional routing, load balancing, and origin failover.Manage TLS certificates and secure delivery standards at the edge.Configure and troubleshoot Azure networking, including Application Gateway, Load Balancer, NSGs, DNS, and traffic routing.Investigate complex performance, availability, and connectivity issues across the CDN, network, and application layers.Act as a senior escalation point during production incidents and lead root cause analysis.Review technical designs and changes and provide guidance to other engineers.Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational knowledge articles.
Required Experience
Strong hands-on experience managing Akamai CDN in production at scale, including Property Manager, caching, routing, and origin configuration.Practical experience with Akamai WAF, particularly Kona or App & API Protector, including policy design, tuning, and false-positive management.Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, DNS, caching, headers, and the complete request path from client to origin.Experience troubleshooting using HAR files, curl, CDN/edge logs, monitoring, and diagnostic tools.Solid hands-on experience with Azure networking, particularly Application Gateway, Load Balancer, NSGs, DNS, and traffic routing.Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues across edge, network, and application layers.Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both engineers and business stakeholders.
Desirable Experience
Experience with Akamai Bot Manager, DDoS mitigation, multi-CDN environments, CDN migrations, CloudFront, Cloudflare, or Tencent CDN would be advantageous.
Experience with Terraform/Akamai provider, CI/CD pipelines, APIs, and Infrastructure as Code would also be beneficial.
Experience working within security, operational risk, and compliance frameworks in regulated environments is a plus.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior, hands-on engineer with strong expertise in Akamai CDN and WAF, combined with solid Azure networking experience.
You should be comfortable independently making production changes, investigating difficult traffic and performance issues, responding to incidents, and improving the reliability and security of the edge environment.
