Cloud Engineer

Role Overview CLE is currently seeking a Cloud Engineer to work with the growing Platform team. You will be responsible for automating and developing a scalable cloud platform, reporting to an Engineering Manager. Candidates will have a strong cloud engineering background and experience in automation, SRE, Agile methodologies, and cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will have proven experience: • Building and supporting scalable, resilient cloud-based architectures • Automating based on established patterns and practices • Migration of on-premises applications to the cloud • Working as part of an Agile team and delivering high quality production grade solutions What you will help us to achieve Implement best of breed, scalable solutions according to defined patterns and practicesInfrastructure as Code (IaC): Write and manage declarative infrastructure using tools like Terraform or Azure BiCep Security & Compliance: Implement identity and access management (IAM), network security groups, and encryption protocols.Monitor and manage technical operations and platform reliability using Azure-native tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Defender for Cloud).Implement automation solutions using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Terraform, and Azure-native services. Key Strengths Experience in Containerisation – Kubernetes (AKS), Docker, etc.CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with building and optimising automated deployment workflows via Azure DevOps or Jenkins.Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for Azure resource deployment.Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practicesExperience working in Agile environments alongside software development and security teamsStrong troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience and skills. What you will need to be successful in the role 2 plus years' experience as a Cloud Engineer or DevOps/Platform role. Proficient in pipeline architecture and automation; experience with Azure DevOps being preferredKnowledge and experience of Terraform, Helm, Kusto Query Language (KQL), Bash, and PowerShellGood knowledge of System Architectures, Software Engineering, and DevOps / Agile practices - experience of Agile Methodologies and operating in agile / scrum based teamsExcellent team player, collaborative, and supportiveAbility to multitask while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.Fluent in English – written and verbal Necessary Qualifications / Skills: Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.3rd level qualification (honours degree), preferably in a related discipline. Desired Skills & Experience Knowledge of insurance or financial services industry applications and functionality. Experience with Cloud Computing platforms – Azure, AWS or GCP.Experience using JIRA/Confluence.Working knowledge of German language Technologies & Frameworks: Experience with Terraform, Bicep. CI/CD: Jenkins, Azure DevOps. Scripting: Strong command of Bash or PowerShell.Networking & Communication Protocols – DNS, TCPIP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, SSL, FTP, SCP.
