Senior PHP Developer / Technical Lead – Fully Remote (UK-Wide) A leading company in the insurance sector is looking for an experienced Senior PHP Developer / Technical Lead to join its growing development team. This is a fully remote UK role for someone who is still hands-on technically, but who can also help drive the team forward, contribute to technical direction and confidently represent the business on technical calls with clients and partners. Key Details Salary: Up to £70,000 per annumLocation: Fully Remote – UK-wideExperience: 5+ years working within enterprise-level environmentsCore Stack: PHP, Laravel, AWS, JavaScript, Vue.js / ReactArchitecture: Domain Driven Design (DDD), CQRSData: Experience working with large-scale / Big Data systemsPersistence / ORM: Doctrine experience highly desirable Responsibilities Develop and maintain scalable, enterprise-level PHP applications.Help drive the development team forward technically, contributing ideas and technical direction rather than simply delivering assigned tickets.Work closely with the Project Manager to support the management and delivery of development projects.Produce clear technical specifications for new features and solutions.Represent the business on technical calls with clients, partners and other stakeholders.Report into the Head of Engineering, taking feedback and contributing to wider engineering decisions.Apply architectural principles including Domain Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS.Work with large-scale data systems and complex application environments.Design and implement cloud-based solutions using AWS.Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.Balance delivery of client-driven work with ongoing maintenance, technical debt and keeping systems up to date. Requirements 5+ years of commercial development experience within enterprise-level environments.Strong PHP development experience, ideally with Laravel.Experience working with large-scale / Big Data systems.Strong understanding and practical experience of Domain Driven Design (DDD).Experience with Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS).Experience with Doctrine or similar ORM / persistence technologies.Experience producing technical specifications and contributing to technical architecture.Comfortable working closely with Project Managers and helping coordinate development teams.Strong client-facing communication skills and confidence representing a business on technical calls.Experience with AWS cloud services.Strong knowledge of relational databases, APIs, Git and modern development practices.Experience with JavaScript and Vue.js or React would be beneficial.
