They orchestrate plug-in batteries as a flexible power fleet to cut congestion and free up capacity for data centres and heat pumps, deploying infrastructure in days rather than the decades required for traditional grid upgrades. Job Description As the first software hire at NODI Energy, you will design the entire cloud and platform layer from scratch. You will turn heterogeneous physical batteries into a reliable virtual power plant, working across connected hardware, real-time data, and external energy markets to build the technical foundation of a next-generation electric company. What You Will Do Design and implement reliable systems for real-time data, fleet operations, and control of distributed energy devices at scale.Build the software abstractions that make complex physical infrastructure simple to operate and dependable enough for national electricity markets to trust.Shape the engineering culture and future team as a founding member, deciding where software creates a lasting competitive advantage for the grid. The ideal candidate Demonstrable experience building complex distributed systems or real-time data platforms, with a focus on observability and designing for failure.A systems thinker who understands the intersection of software, hardware, and commercial value, capable of shipping production-ready code with incomplete information.Deep engineering ownership mindset, using AI as leverage and thriving in an ambiguous, fast-paced startup environment where you build, operate, and iterate end-to-end.
