Cloud Engineer

We're partnering with a major Australian enterprise to find a hands-on Cloud Engineer to join its Cloud Operations team and help operate, automate and continuously improve a large Microsoft Azure environment. This isn't a purely BAU or ticket-driven CloudOps role. You'll work across day-to-day cloud operations alongside automation, security, observability, FinOps and project initiatives, with increasing exposure to AI-assisted operations and AIOps. The Opportunity You'll join an established Cloud Operations function responsible for the reliability, security and ongoing improvement of Azure services across production and non-production environments. Working alongside CloudOps, Software Engineering, Security, Integration and Data teams, you'll get exposure across: Azure IaaS and PaaS servicesInfrastructure as Code and automationTerraform, Bicep, PowerShell and AnsibleKubernetes / AKSGitHub Actions and Azure DevOpsAzure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application InsightsCloud security and Microsoft Defender for CloudSRE, observability and incident improvementFinOps and cloud cost optimisationAI-assisted operations and emerging AIOps capabilities You'll also support project and product teams to ensure new cloud workloads are secure, observable, resilient and operationally ready before going live. Ideally, you'll have 3+ years' experience across Cloud Engineering, Cloud Operations, Infrastructure, DevOps, or a similar hands-on environment. We're particularly interested in experience across: Strong Microsoft Azure infrastructure and platform servicesTerraform, Bicep or other Infrastructure as Code toolingPowerShell and infrastructure automationAzure DevOps, GitHub Actions or CI/CD pipelinesAzure networking, identity, security and monitoringKubernetes / AKS exposureAzure Monitor, Log Analytics or Application InsightsCloud security, SRE or FinOps practices You don't need to tick every box. More important is a strong Azure foundation, an automation mindset and the ability to learn and adapt as the environment continues to evolve. Why Consider It?
