As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining systems within the BSS/OSS space. This role exists to bring strong technical expertise into the team, ensuring software is robust, scalable, and secure, while contributing to the design and planning of key components within larger platform initiatives. You’ll play a key role in shaping solutions, embedding non-functional requirements such as performance, maintainability, and security, while supporting the wider engineering team through best practice and technical guidance. What will you be doing day-to-day? Here are a few examples of what you could be involved with: Leading key aspects of technical design, development, code review, and testing for delivered componentsSupporting and coaching engineers within the team on technologies, standards, and best practicesContributing to and enhancing CI/CD pipelines and engineering practices within the squadParticipating in Agile ceremonies and supporting project delivery and continuous improvement initiativesCollaborating with Product, Operations, and other stakeholders to refine and improve requirementsEnsuring systems meet standards across cost control, security, configuration, and asset managementCreating clear technical documentation to support maintainability, operability, and business continuityDriving quality through robust testing strategies and identifying opportunities to adopt new technologies What You’ll Bring You don’t need experience in everything listed—but we’re especially keen to hear from people with some of the following skills: Strong hands-on experience with Java (Java 8+) and a solid understanding of object-oriented programming principlesExperience designing and building RESTful APIs with a focus on scalability and maintainabilityStrong SQL and database design experience, with performance optimisation knowledgeExperience using version control systems (ideally Git) within collaborative environmentsKnowledge of automated testing frameworks (e.g. JUnit, Cucumber, Selenium) and CI/CD practicesExperience working in Agile teams and using tools such as JiraFamiliarity with AWS and cloud-native development (desirable)Understanding of containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) (desirable) What do we offer you? 25 days annual leave + birthdaySubsidised private medical insurance5.1% matched pension contributionsEnhanced parental leaveLife assurance and Income protectionShare save and incentive plansElectric Vehicle and Cycle schemeEmployee discountsVolunteer day A few things to note We require all candidates to be eligible to work in the UK and pass a basic DBS check.
