Senior Software Engineer - Sydney Based A global fintech is building a new engineering team in Sydney to take ownership of its Money Flows platform across APAC. We're looking for experienced Backend / Senior Software Engineers to work on high-volume transactional systems supporting multi-currency accounts, incoming funds and outgoing international payments. The role You will: Design and develop highly available, scalable backend systems.Own services from system design through to deployment and production.Work across complex payment and financial workflows.Design resilient distributed systems and asynchronous architectures.Build APIs and integrate external systems.Work closely with Product, Operations and international engineering teams.Contribute to architecture and technical direction.Mentor other engineers and maintain high engineering standards.Build robust monitoring, alerting and production practices.The business is technology agnostic, so strong backend engineers from other environments will be considered. What we're looking for: Strong backend software engineering experience.Technology : Python | Django | FastAPI | PostgreSQL | Kafka | AWS | Kubernetes | Terraform | Jenkins | Prometheus | KibanaExperience designing and maintaining complex systems at scale. Payments experience Payments, fintech or banking experience is highly desirable. Experience with any of the following is particularly relevant: Payment processing | transactional systems | ledgers | multi-currency | financial integrations | idempotency | auditability The opportunity You'll be joining a newly established Sydney team with broad ownership across the Money Flows domain and exposure to APAC markets, working closely with engineering teams across Europe.
