Senior Java Software Engineer

An established international tech organization operating in the defense sector is seeking a skilled Senior Java Software Engineer to join its technical team. This is an opportunity to contribute to large-scale system integration projects, designing solutions that demand high performance and stability. The position is full-time, permanent and based in Athens, northern suburbs. A hybrid working model is offered. Responsibilities You will be involved in the full software lifecycle, bridging the gap between coding and system operation. Requirements Analysis & Implementation: Perform detailed requirement analyses and produce documentation according to engineering standards.Development: Code native applications and systems software.Integration: Merge proprietary and third-party software to enhance system capabilities.Optimization: Debug and test (in standalone environments) to verify memory, processor, and performance requirements.Support & Deployment: Assist test teams during acceptance phases and support on-site installation, check-outs, or upgrades. Qualifications What You Bring to the Table Academic Background: BSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Experience: 4+ years in systems programming.Core Languages: Strong proficiency in Java (Python skills are a plus).Networking DNA: Deep understanding of TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocols.OS Mastery: Comfortable working across Windows & Linux environments (including shell scripting & automation).Data Handling: Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL/SQLite), NoSQL (Redis) and XML/JSON.
