Job Summary:
We are seeking a Platform Modernization Engineer to join a Global Enterprise Technology Team responsible for developing, modernizing, securing, and ensuring the operational reliability of mission-critical information distribution and file transfer platforms.
The role will focus on vulnerability remediation, technical debt reduction, legacy modernization, automation, observability, and platform resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, enhance, and support enterprise applications, APIs, integrations, and platform services using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.Modernize legacy applications and reduce technical debt through contemporary architectures, secure coding, and engineering best practices.Remediate vulnerabilities and maintain secure versions of application frameworks, dependencies, and platform components.Improve platform availability, resiliency, recoverability, and performance; identify and address single points of failure and operational risks.Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable corrective actions.Build and improve monitoring, alerting, and observability using tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or Open Telemetry.Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployments, compliance, and operational processes.Support containerized and cloud-ready architectures using Docker, Kubernetes/Open Shift, and AWS, Azure, or GCP.Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and global technology teams on security, disaster recovery, business continuity, and platform hardening initiatives.
Required Skills:
Strong Java 17+ programming and object-oriented design skills.Experience with Python and/or JavaScript, Spring Boot, and REST API development.Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix, shell scripting, relational databases, and Git-based development.Working knowledge of HTTPS, SSH/SFTP, SMTP, TLS, and TCP/IP.Understanding of secure software development, vulnerability management, dependency remediation, HA, resiliency, and fault-tolerant design.Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and modern software engineering practices.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Kafka/IBM MQ, distributed systems, enterprise/managed file transfer platforms, PGP, cryptography, key and certificate management.Exposure to Temporal, DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, SCA/SAST, vulnerability scanning, and large-scale modernization initiatives.
