Cloud Support Engineer

Job Summary We are looking for a Cloud Support Engineer – Operations with strong knowledge of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) to support the availability, reliability, security, and compliance of cloud infrastructure and services. The role combines day-to-day cloud operations and production support with strong focus on IT controls, risk management, compliance requirements, audit readiness, security governance, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will work closely with Cloud Engineering, Security, Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to ensure cloud environments are operationally stable and compliant with organizational policies and industry standards. Key Responsibilities Cloud Operations & Support Provide L1/L2/L3 operational support for cloud infrastructure and services.Monitor cloud environments for availability, performance, capacity, and operational health.Troubleshoot incidents, service disruptions, performance issues, and configuration-related problems.Perform incident, problem, and change management in accordance with established ITSM processes.Support cloud infrastructure across services such as compute, storage, networking, databases, IAM, monitoring, and backup.Participate in on-call/shift-based support as required.Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, knowledge articles, and troubleshooting procedures.Support cloud migrations, upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and operational improvements.Identify recurring operational issues and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.GRC, Risk & Compliance Ensure cloud operations adhere to organizational security policies, standards, procedures, and control requirements.Support implementation and ongoing operation of IT General Controls (ITGCs) and cloud-specific controls.Maintain evidence and documentation required for internal and external audits.Support compliance assessments against frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 1/SOC 2, PCI DSS, NIST, CIS Controls, GDPR, or applicable regulatory requirements.Assist with risk assessments, control assessments, control testing, remediation tracking, and exception management.Monitor cloud environments for compliance with security baselines and approved configurations.Support access reviews, privileged access reviews, segregation-of-duties controls, and IAM governance.Ensure appropriate logging, monitoring, retention, and audit trails are maintained.Track security and compliance findings through remediation and closure.Support management of policy exceptions, risk acceptances, and compensating controls.Partner with Risk, Compliance, Information Security, Internal Audit, and external auditors during assessments.Contribute to continuous improvement of cloud governance and compliance processes.Security & Governance Support secure configuration and hardening of cloud environments.Monitor adherence to least-privilege and identity governance principles.Assist with vulnerability, patch, configuration, and security remediation activities.Ensure operational changes follow approved Change Management and security governance processes.Support cloud asset inventory, ownership, classification, and lifecycle management.Help identify operational and security risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.Required Skills & Experience Experience in cloud infrastructure support/operations in an enterprise environment.Strong understanding of at least one major cloud platform:AWSMicrosoft AzureGoogle Cloud Platform (GCP)Good understanding of cloud networking, compute, storage, IAM, monitoring, backup, and security concepts.Experience with incident, problem, change, and service management processes.Strong understanding of GRC principles and IT controls.Experience supporting audits, compliance assessments, and control evidence collection.Knowledge of ITGC, access controls, change management, operations controls, logging/monitoring, backup/recovery, and security controls.Familiarity with risk management, control frameworks, and remediation processes.Understanding of cloud security and compliance best practices.Ability to analyze audit findings and translate them into actionable technical remediation.Strong documentation, analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.Preferred Qualifications Relevant cloud certification such as AWS Certified, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud certification.ITIL certification or practical experience with ITIL/ITSM processes.Security/GRC certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CISSP, ISO 27001, or equivalent are desirable.Experience with GRC platforms such as ServiceNow GRC, Archer, RSA, MetricStream, or similar tools.Experience with SIEM, vulnerability management, CSPM/CNAPP, IAM, or cloud security tools.Exposure to automation and scripting using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies.Experience working in regulated industries or environments subject to formal compliance requirements.
