Role Description The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable software systems that support Somi AI’s core products and services. Day-to-day responsibilities include architecting back-end services, writing high-quality code, reviewing contributions from other engineers, and collaborating with product and design teams to translate requirements into technical solutions. The role involves troubleshooting complex issues, optimizing performance, ensuring reliability, and contributing to best practices in software development. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Vancouver, BC, with regular interaction across cross-functional teams to deliver robust, secure, and maintainable software. Qualifications Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software architecture conceptsProficiency in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, with experience building scalable, production-grade servicesAdvanced Programming skills and expertise in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) using at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or similar)Experience with APIs, databases, and distributed systems, including performance optimization and monitoringFamiliarity with modern development workflows, version control (e.g., Git), testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelinesAbility to mentor other engineers, contribute to technical decision-making, and collaborate effectively in a team environmentBachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experienceExperience working with AI/ML products, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), or microservices architectures is an asset
