Platform Engineer

About the roleEvery development team relies on invisible foundations: the pipelines that ship their code, the quality gates that catch defects, the standards that keep a growing codebase coherent. We're looking for a Director of Internal Engineering to own those foundations across the organization.Our developers are embedded in business-aligned domains. This role owns the horizontal function that makes their work reliable, consistent, and high-quality: quality assurance, CI/CD, internal infrastructure, and engineering practice. You'll set the bar for code quality and delivery discipline, and build a team capable of holding it.This is a role for a pragmatic, execution-focused leader who leads through influence, not org-chart authority. What you'll own Standards & code quality. Define, publish, and evolve the coding practices and quality gates every domain team builds against. Own QA as a shared service: test strategy, test-case ownership, automation coverage, release readiness. Establish measurable indicators of quality and delivery health (DORA, escaped-defect rates, coverage, pipeline reliability) and hold the org accountable to them. Drive a deployment governance model with readiness gates and tiered release control. Pipelines & platforms. Own the CI/CD strategy and tooling domain teams consume as a paved path. Manage internal engineering infrastructure: environments, tooling, developer platforms, with reliability, cost, and developer experience as first-class concerns. Reduce friction and cognitive load for embedded developers. API-first engineering. Establish API-first as a core standard, so services are designed as reusable, contract-driven interfaces from the outset. Set the governance and quality bar for API design, versioning, and lifecycle. Embed the discipline into pipelines and review gates so it's enforced through tooling, not just guidance, partnering closely with our dedicated API platform leader on execution. Team & influence. Lead, mentor, and elevate a team of Engineering Managers and ICs, deliberately coaching depth in QA, automation, infrastructure, and practice. Build a collaborative, approachable culture other teams want to partner with rather than route around. Act as a trusted advisor to engineering and business leadership, translating quality posture and delivery risk into business terms.
