Description

Build the product and the machine that builds it Liscio is a next-generation client-collaboration tool for accounting firms. We help firms communicate securely with clients, collect documents and information, manage requests and signatures, deliver tax returns, and serve their clients more effectively. We work at the edge of what is possible, redefining how product, engineering and AI collaborate to deliver value. We are looking for an exceptional software engineer who can think like the CTO of their domain: understand customers, make strong product and technical decisions, and own the outcome in production. The position is fully remote with US and EU working hours overlap. You will work in a small team directly with company leadership who are founders with successful exits. The distance between an idea, a decision, and implementation is short. How We Build This is not a traditional software engineering role. You will spend less time translating perfectly specified tickets into code and more time investigating real problems, designing the right solution, directing AI agents, and verifying the result. We are building an engineering environment where people and agents share: Structured, versioned product and architectural context.Clear specifications for consequential changes.Automated constraints that catch mistakes early.Tight feedback loops from tests, browsers, production, and customers.Human ownership of product decisions, risk, and final review. We do not optimize for lines of code or raw feature output. We optimize for better decisions, safer changes, faster learning, and less repeated work. What You Will Own You will take end-to-end responsibility for capabilities that define the future of our platform. This involves more than just shipping features; it means: Defining and owning the full lifecycle of product outcomes, ensuring every technical decision directly serves a customer need.Architecting seamless, high-leverage user experiences that simplify complex accounting workflows into intuitive digital interactions.Evolving our core systems to be more resilient, intelligent, and capable of supporting the next order of magnitude of scale.Feeding learnings from every implementation back into the software machine we are building, ensuring the machine keeps improving daily. Our stack includes Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, Python, React, TypeScript, AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform. You do not need to know all of it already. You need strong software engineering fundamentals, meaningful production experience, and the ability to become effective quickly in unfamiliar systems. What We Are Looking For Product ownership. You care about the customer’s workflow and the production outcome, not merely whether code was merged. Product taste. You recognize unnecessary steps, confusing interfaces, weak abstractions, and accidental complexity. “It works” is the start of evaluation, not the end. Formidable agency. When the obvious route is blocked, you investigate, find alternatives, and keep moving. You ask for decisions when authority is required, not when the answer is discoverable. Systems thinking. You improve how the whole team works. You would rather eliminate repeated effort through better architecture, context, or automation than complete it faster by hand. Technical depth. Deep understanding of relational databases, external data integrations, and building self-healing systems. You can reason about data integrity, APIs, asynchronous processing, integrations, security, and failure. When an agent reaches its limits, you can solve the hard problem yourself. Low-ego collaboration. You communicate directly, challenge ideas constructively, accept strong feedback, and raise the quality of the people around you. What You Can Expect Massive ownership, daily work directly with the CTO who’s career spans hardware and all layers of software, frontier compensation model, difficult and consequential product problems, and the freedom to improve both what we build and how we build it. Prepare to spend most of your time specifying what we’re building with maximum precision, verifying the outcomes and operating them in production, and learning very quickly. If you need every task fully specified before beginning, this will be uncomfortable. If you want to understand important problems, build across the system, and take responsibility for the result, we should talk. Ideal for someone who wants to powerlevel at multiple domains fast and is willing to put in a lot of effort. Up to $160,000/year.
